I am not sure if someone even  services Turbine Engines in India. It is a huge uphill engineering challenges in all departments - design, material, fabrication tolerance, testing. Would be great to see the progress.

Where are you starting from in making a gas turbine. Do you have an idea of the size that you want to start with.

There are certain things that is best bought rather than making them as they have to be with aerospace standards.

your best bet is to buy a kit from Wren Turbines
They have a kit of the Wren 70 which is a 70 Newton(14.5 lbs thrust) turbine
It comes with everything you need to get it running.
I have built one with a friend and have had no problems , assembly takes about 8hrs

Unfortunately Wren no longer sells them as Kits anymore. This is due to the fact that they are making higher specification engines which have a very tight tolerance so Kits assembeled by customers cannot be guranteed with same specifications.

However Wren sells seperate parts for Home Builders. You can choose the compressor which are Garett parts made for turbochargers in everyday cars. There are others which you have to manufacture using Lathe/CNC using the specified material.

Your best bet is to go through the various books available like thomas Kamps and others. They give their designs around the KJ66 models.

I myself have a lot of interest to build one so I am collecting all the Plans and Design details. I have also collected a lot of parts. I also have a Wren MW54 but similar to Xantos I bought them as Kits and assembeled. It will be good to see how you go along.

I built/assembled the Wren 70 kit last year.
It is possible that Wren no longer offers the kit but they might be able to put a kit together on request.
Just send Wren an email and they might oblige.
It again depends on what you intend to do with the turbine, if you intend to build it only for the experience then go ahead but if you intend to install it in a model and fly think again.
A gas turbine essentially is  very very simple in construction in terms of its moving parts.
Its a single shaft with a compressor and a turbine wheel at one end inside a combustion chamber.
The combustion chamber and the injector ring will call for a very high degree of metal working skill (TIG welding )
The injector sticks are very fine diameter and welding them is not easy similarly the combustion chamber.
Turbine wheels are commercially available from Garrett.Similarly the ceramic bearing are also available.
 The compressor can be machined from aluminium .
Again Im not discouraging anyone from trying but there's a high degree of metallurgy involved here, materials such as Inconel steel,and the correct grade of aluminium may not be available.
I have run the entire range of Wren turbines right from the MW44 to the Wren XL200 and the Wren160 and on some occasion have enven taken them apart so Im familiar with the construction.
In my honest opinion if you are really serious just send Wren an email with your request , they are a progressive company and they may just be able to provide a kit of the Wren70, incidently this is the only Wren where the tolerances are not as critical as the others in their range, which made it more DIY friendly.

Thanks for being so open Santosh. This is exactly what I emphasized some time back on another thread. When I asked my Mech Engg friend working with Pratt and Whitney that what has been the problem of India not able to produce a commercial Jet Engine (Kaveri for its LCH Tejas project) even after so many years, he told that though simpler than even a piston engine, the material science and precision is so difficult and full of Patents (thus requiring taking license ), that it is taking even talented team of Govt agency so much time. It would be even harder for individual to get a home brew engine up and running.

What Santosh and myself would advice people is to understand the ground reality that finding such technician to do welding /Milling  in India would be very difficult and costlier than getting a RTF engine, if not impossible. Here in Bangalore, few SMEs are doing manufacturing for BAE/Rafael but getting their service won't be easy. Dont put you money unless you are sure that you fan procure Each and Everything on the BOM(Bill of Material).

So Santosh, do you do the routine service of your engines yourself ? I heard from some old timers that maintaining a Turbine is more costly than owning one!

Contrary to popular belief Turbines require NO maintenance !
I have about 12 turbines and I've nevar had any issues whatsoever.
If your fuel is clean and filtered well you will have no problems.
Only maintenance is replacing fuel tubing after every 200 liters and cleaning out the last chance filter.
My Wren XL 200 has run past the 25 hour service interval , there's no sign of wear, bearings sound ok so Wren says dont send it in and waste money.
This turbine has burnt approx 675 liters of Kero and never flamed out - it just runs and runs!
Only reason I'd need service is if I crash or ingest some FOD

675 Liters!!! Wowwww that would take a car from Mumbai to Delhi and back at least twice!!

Not exactly eco friendly or fossil fuel friendly !
675 lits sounds ridiculous BUT the XL 200 gulps 4 lits of Kero for a 8 minute flight from startup to shutdown , leavin about 500ml in reserve for a go around.
Go arounds are rare but happen sometimes
As far as reliability of modern turbines is concerned all of them without exception are very very reliable.
In around 400 flights so far I've only ever had 2 flameouts so far.
If i were to add up all the flights collectively in my club alone we'd probably have in excess of 1500 flights and the failure rate is similar.
So no matter what brand you choose (except Jet Joe-Chinese) you are assured of extreme reliability.

Hey U All .I Have A question.Where From Do U Buy Wren Turbines In India?And Where Do U Get The Fuel To get the turbine running?

the turbines run on kerosene (yes the stuff used for hurricane lantern) -  you will probably have to add
some turbine oil to the fuel.

Unless you buy one second hand - (model) turbines are not available
in India
