I now have three of those Jersey Modeler cans (break in mix, the usual mix and smoke) and I love them. Simple and one of the best in the market.

Guys it is a little premature but since the cat is out of the bag.....

I have been collaborating with Dean of Jersey Modeler for last few months. It started with his Chinese supplier of bezels letting him down and I supplying him some...in time and the correct specs....since then Dean has been helping me make the cans here in India. Reason - why spend $$$ in shipping air to India....the courier co's charge on volume NOT weight.

The 1st Indian proto of the Kerosene can (20L) should be ready soon....some key stuff is stuck in customs for last 10 days. This can has the latest innovation from Dean - it has no hole other than the pick up and probe assembly ones. Dean used to drill a 3rd hole for mounting the plate for the pump and batt box. I suggested that with the road conditions in India it is a bad idea to have holes in the cans. Based on a jugad that I was using, Dean has come up with a simpler yet functional clamp for the plate.

I am unable to source the red gasoline cans in India till date. Would appreciate any pointers to red 5-10L cans, suitable for our needs.

For my friends I have an offer - get your can over and I will fit the Jersey fittings with the pump et all - at a cost you cannot refuse.... ;-)

keep coming back for updates......
Cheers..

This is good stuff Sandy.

Regarding the source of red gasoline cans in India, is it not carried by Walmart India? Or perhaps you can talk to them and see if they can supply those in their stores. These are good cans not only for RC but for other gasoline related usage.

Walmart US carries the Blitz cans. Blitz was forced to close down last year due to excessive frivolous law suits. Anyway that is the US and Walmart maybe carrying some other cans now.

Now in India I have spoken with 3 blow packaging manufacturers who routinely make these type of cans - None of them have a red colour aesthetic!! looking can - they did offer vanaspati cans to me !! Even the engine oil cans are funny looking.

Reason is that there are no small engines used in India - weed whackers, lawnmowers, chainsaws etc. - hence there is no market for these cans.

For getting one made just for us the min. order is 2000 cans !! + development cost.

However I will try and speak with some one at Walmart India if they have any red colour cans !!

Thanx for the tip...

After a minimum order of 2000, offer some of those to the hobby shops in neighboring countries if the local demand is not high. Smiley

OK Guys......the 5 Gallon - 20L Kerosene cans are ready.... JMI 5.0HKPF

Check out http://www.jerseymodeler.co.in/

Some features of the JM India can:
•   The pump plate mounting is done without drilling a hole in the can. With our “great” roads any hole in the can is a sure source of kero leakage/ vapours. Dean has also incorporated this new mounting system from recent lots.
•   The Pump has a speed control for varying pump pressure. Sometimes the pump can swell the UATs or even the main tank in the model. The reduced flow rate/ pressure will address this problem.
•   The can is supplied with a 3S LiFe battery – with typically pumping 100L+ on full charge. Better than the NiMh from Dean. His reason for sticking to NiMh is that Lithium batts are not allowed by USPS. A simple jack (Futaba Tx type) will be there to charge using our regular chargers. No need to have another charger for the can. LiFe are very safe batts with long usable shelf life. They can be charged in 15 min. Without risk of heating/ swelling or exploding !!. Tamiya jacks as supplied by Dean are also available.
•    The exact same fittings are used – these come as a kit from JM.
•   Spares available locally.

And finally the best part – The cost will be Rs 14,500 shipped. Shipping to start in 1st week July.....

Please spread the word and people interested may contact either me or Jamal Ahmad.....

Cheers....

Just spoke to Jamal, placed order. Great initiative guys.
I was actually thinking of having a tank or two TIG/MIG-welded by the same vendor that did our distillery tanks, albeit larger ones!
