yes but this thing was yelling like hell (this has no muffler) but now I'm used to the level of sound the engine makes

i have run the engine 2 tanks at 3 1/4 turn (rich) and now it start on a single turn  ;D need to one more tank of run and the engine will be ready for work but i have not at decided on what model to use it on may be a bipe

Sahil,
I have used Cox .049 Black widow since 1991 . Used to fly it on control lines and loved the engine.
Even now i have one of them, though not installed on any airplane. Yes they do make a lot of noise, but, as Anwar said, thats the charm of it ! .
RPM is very high, power OK ( they do like a little nitro in the fuel ) .
Run it rich, and it will outlive most of your other engines.

yes that's one of the reason i got the engine but i was not expecting such high sound !

now i'm using 5% nitro fuel and wanted to know at how many turn will i be or should be getting peak RPM  ???

The "yelling" and accompanied terror will reduce dramatically when the engine is run outdoors !

YES , these COX surestarts are so small that one is tempted to run them indoors.
I remember. when i got my first one, my son told me that I had been"had', because an engine so small would certainly not run.
So i zip-tied it to a yardstick- (thing to make Coro wings) and sure enough the thing roared.
Mine ran with zero nitro, but it is significantly more powerful with 20% nitro.
I fly a little C/L on twenty feet lines and a 8 ml tank lasted 6.5 min. Each turn takes about 4 seconds, and after one sortie, i couldn't fly R/C that day , I was so dizzy.
Lovely, cheap engine.
One of the hobby shops here should buy a stock and retail them., it works great on small coro planes.
I am thinking of fitting one on a R/C plane . Fly it with  7-10 mins of fuel and then land on a dead stick.
These engines require 20% CASTOR OIL as lube. Don't use synthetic.
After the original glow head burnt, i drilled out the head, and JB Welded a OS8 plug. (i am trying to get a 1/4-32 tap from Tower). Still works great.

Hey have you tried Sharma Model's disel Engines. No glow plug and no mufflar too. They have same sound and I must say no one can beat those engines in durability. Very reliable and very long life engines, only draback is that they throw lot of exhaust (as no mufflar) go directly on the model.

Does it have throttle? How the fuel is pumped inside the carburetter without priming by exhaust.

It says 20% Nitro fuel recommended. does it run on zero nitro?

Hey have you tried Sharma Model's disel Engines.
Hey, can you tell me more about sharma diesel engines. I have been to website, but there are few details. Seems you have used them. Whats your opinion, since i m confused with ASP .52  and  2.3 cc sharma diesel for my first model. please help..

Sharma Engines are synonym to Quality and durability. I used their engine in my first model. Their engines are very low maintenance and high performance but these engines have no muffler (silencer).  You can talk to Vivek Shrma directly on this. He is very cooperative and humble guy. Number PMd.

can you tell me more about sharma diesel engines ...
A Sharma diesel comes in 1.5, 2.5 and 3.2 cc.
The ASP mentioned is a 0.52 cubic inch or 8cc engine.
these engines are not interchangable.
if you have a 40 or 46 size model go for the ASP .
if it is a small model think of the sharma.
but remember a diesel engine- even a sharma reqiures more expertise to run. since it is your first model go for the glow.

Thanks avijit sir,
I got my ASP .25 three months ago. flew with it, crashed the plane as well ;D. Still i love the engine. I think it was a good decision to go with glow. Thanks to forum buddies to guide me. :thanks:

I even got a diesel from Vishvesh (R/Cvish), but could not experience it, due to some academic presse..

After a very long postponment  mine was mounted on the test Stand. Arm rest of an easy chair . :giggle:.  Boy oh boy the little Engine makes a real racket. The nitro music of this .049 is as loud as a .46 engine.

Locally one chap from chennai, tried to sell it to me for Rs 10000/- after I won it on bid for correct price on ebay.in

One ebay id had it on sale which I have posted earlier now no longer availabke with him.

Some of our LHS should try stocking  the engine. These are affordable for bigginers too and models require very less space to fly.

Most of all does not gusstle nitro  which has become even more difficult to source.

Sundaram sir, even i tried it on a LHS at mumbai, but the owner offered it for  :Rs: 3700.
It was "Cox .049 Surestart". The price was almost thrice  what we get including international shipping, so i could not make any offers even..

since then sometimes i visit ebay.in for better offers. but could not find any listings.. :'(
