Title: valve adjustment kit for OS four stroke engines.
Post by: gauravag on October 17, 2009, 11:08:47 PM
hello,
My os engine seems to be delivering less rpm than should be and I think its time to tinker with the valve clearances. Now os has a valve adjustment kit. Can anyone guide me from where can I get  this ?

Thanks
Gaurav

Guess you have exhausted the usual tricks of adjusting all needles and trying fuel with a little bit more nitro content ?

Are you referring to this ?  http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCN31

yes I have tried all needle setting options and my fuel is good too. I think there is an issue with the valve clearances . Wonder how many other 4 stroke users have set clearances before.
Anwar , yes that is the product I am after. I will buy from tower if no local retailer stocks this.

All you need is a feeler guage set that you can by in any large hardware market. Or let me know and I will buy it to for you. The clearances are specified in the manual , or you could get the figures on line. OS normally supplies a "go - no go" guage with its engines. The thinner end should go into the gap and the thicker one shouldn't. The clearances should be set when cold.

You could also be having carbon build up in the cylinder head. This can cause an improper seal at the valve seats.

Fortunately for me, I use only RCV 4 s engines that do not have tappet valves and their associated maintenance.
