Hey guys, I've got myself a  Hobbico NexSTAR 46 Trainer RTF .46, but as the shipping of the fuel is not allowed i dont really know what i should use as my fuel, according to my knowledge, normally they use, 70% methanol, 15% niromethane and 15%castor oil.
I'm reaaly upset because of this problem, i dont really know what fuel to use, im a beginner , please revert .

since u are a beginner i would suggest u not to use nitromethane. just use 75% methanol + 25 % castor oil.

I agree with Vishal. I've used it (as have a zillion other modellers) for years, and it's just fine

Remember: with nitromethane, your post flying cleanup has to be seriously good. Nitromethane post-ignition leaves traces of HNO3 Nitric Acid.So after-run etc. is very important

Just to add to your confidence - both the above are absolutely right

no need for nitromethane - your engine will work perfectly fine with
castor and methanol mix

we use 80% methanol + 20% castor oil.

well u can use anything. but a little more oil (lubrication) is always good, for the engine as it will run cooler.
 thunder tiger also recommends 25% castor oil for its engines.

slightly rich is better than lean

     i personally use 75% methanol, 5 % nitro, and 20 % Castor/ Synthetic Blend. Since your a beginner, go for 20% Castor oil, as it protects your engine against a lean mix, which might otherwise damage your engine. Also my recommendation is that you use 5% nitro methane in your fuel, since it will give a slightly more stable run on you engine and a bit more power.
also break in your engine properly first, before you attempt to do any sort of flying, to ensure that you have a very reliable long lasting engine.

I cannot believe there are still so many self mix fuel users. Where do you source these components?

We have so many imported fuel options in India - Byron, Coolpower, Rapicon, Tornado. Does this premix have the consistency and works cheaper?

Rarely have i used premixes, always made my own fuel. Premix are good probably, my points are for home brew, reasons are :-

(a) You get 0 micron meth, so cleanliness of basic fuel is ensured
(b) Mix the amount you want, premixes have shelf life
(c) Mix at the ratio you need, like i use different for 4S different for 2S, for heli it is different and for smaller engines it is different, and they are some real complicated mixes and they change with ambient temp and altitude (does one need to complicate so much ? is the natural question,, probably not,,, then you mix gives you most optimum performance)
(d) Needless to say much cheaper

While on this subject, use of lube - what is being used? Standard caster oil or synthetic blend?
