Wrong Brothers

Hello rc lovers,
My first flight, a self made glow trainer crached to two pieces in its first flight.
The incident took place yesterday evening. The plane took off nicely, jst on little elevator up. When i increased the elevator a bit more, it vent vertcal to about three stories, and got inverted. Suddenly before i could do anything, it came down vertically like a rocket at some angle, and one of the wings hit a nearby boundary of a plot.

Engine, throttle servo, and reciever are working fine, rest other servos are making buzzing sound continuously.
I dont know what are they up to.

Help.

Hi Abhay

This is S.K.Agarwal from Lucknow. I have recently become interested in RC flying. I have a trainor model. I want to make a group of RC enthusiasts in Lucknow. May be such a group already exists in LKO. Can you send me yr email or mobile no. to get in touch with you. I think I can help you in rebuilding a model from the components that you have retrieved from yr crashed model. I have a good group in Delhi.

Practice, and only Practice will make you perfect

Abhay,
if you read between the lines, my concern in that thread of yours was that she is not a beginner's plane, whatever be the experience it is better to take baby steps, now please take care of these points in the future.

1. make a dihedral high winger (Why high winger?), position of the wing (High, Mid or Low) decides what kind of lateral  stability the aeroplane will have , a low winger will inherently be unstable that's why dihedral of a low winger is high.

2. try and get a 15 deg sweep atleast, sweep back also improves lateral stability esp during turns
3. control throw should be bare minimum for take off circuit and landing during maiden, calculate it base on the control surface area and moment arm.
4. never take off full power during maiden, increase power as you run and try and take of at a very shallow climb angle at about 60-70% power,
5. be very gentle on control inputs treat her like a new born baby during maiden. we , in real life aircraft  we don't even retract undercarriage during maiden.
6. before take ff you must do some high speed taxy run, see the ground control, then couple of 3-4 cms hops, before you take her up. lot of people won't agree with me on this point, be that as it may, if you do this you will for sure save money, any issues in future gimme a holler.

Thank you augestinv sir.
I was a bit dissapointed yesterday. So i dint make the post yesterday. The incident took place yesterday.

But even after crash i feel happy, the reason being, "i made 1.5 kg stuff fly", although for a couple of seconds.

I m going to make a new trainer using same technique, as well as a glider.

I think i need to practice with gliders first to make my reflexes familier to remote controller.

Thanks..

I hope will be posting my new planning by the end of this week..

Regards,
Abhay

Abhay. Could also well be that the CG was way back.

Do try and get some local modellers with experience to help. There are - and will be - many problems that cannot be solved by "remote".

IMHO, you should listen to all that Gusty has to say. Trust me.

All the best for the new build!

sushil sir, it was not the fault of CG. I read nearly all threads regarding cg.

Ankur sir, i am not dissapointed at all but its all the matter of valuable time as well as money for a student.

Anyway, its time to move further, and im just arranging servos which has been damaged in crash. Other building materials can be arranged locally.

Abhay

Don't want to sound critical, but the main undercarriage is too far forward. In a trike undercarriage, the main wheels are behind the CG. Which is very near the level of the trailing edge of the wing.from the pix it appears to be 25-30% behind the leading edge which is where the CG should be. So if your CG is well in front of your main undercarriage, the plane was not properly balanced.
The preflight pix shows almost an anhydrel wing, which should be much more difficult to fly than a high winger with dihedral.
In my humble opinion, a new design Prototype- I regard all spads as prototypes even proven models, SHOULD BE MAIDENED BY A VERY EXPERIENCED TEST PILOT. I am not belittling your flying skills, but I have often had the test pilot do only ground runs and fast taxi runs on the first day or so. Only after confirming that everything is fine does hego in for a carefull test flight as Augustinev suggested.
Lovely model and very well built. Must learn the thermocole wing technique
regards,
Avijit
