Good one

Guess you will put some more decals/lines on the wings to help with the orientation.  Please post setup details, like engine, tank size, servos etc and AUW.

Also, if you are looking to hover this (the shape is certainly suitable!), then slightly bigger ailerons and elevators would help, right ?

Yeah.. Will put more decals..

Engine: ASP 61 - 2 Stroke Nitro Engine.
Tank Size : 240 cc
Servos : Futaba 3003
AUW : 2.7 kgs.

I hope these surface areas should do.. These are 3 inches. Not sure if these would help.

hi,

have test flown similar model built by a freind of mine. powered by an old  os 46. was a good model with very slow flying characteristics.

but you cannot fly at full throttle, there is fllutter on the ailerons when too much speed is gained.
at half throttle you can cruise and fly low and slow.

I'd built the similar spad yearsssssssss back, and i enjoyed flying it.  I was able to hover this plane few inches off the ground.  It flies great!  I second 'sbajare' you cant afford to do any high speed flying.  But all in all it'll be a great flying model.  use a 13*4 prop on this, you'll enjoy!

Adarsh

Looks good. Should fly well.

As pointed out by others do not fly level at full throttle. These models are meant for high alpha maneuver. With bursts of full throttle at high alpha you should be able to make heads turn at your field.

Enjoy.

3 inches is pretty big, could not figure that out (the scale) from the pictures.  Good luck with the maiden   We hope to see a video here !

What prop are you using ?

Hi,

Well the plan said to make 4 inches.. but i thought it would be too big.... so i did only 3 inches...
http://www.spadtothebone.com/SPAD/SPA3D/Page2/page2.html

initially willl be using 11*6 sports prop... later plan to switch to 13*4

will post videos next sunday. also will apply decals and post pics

Oh Yes... I used 3mm Carbon Fibre rods in the main wing instead of piano wires suggested. I have 2 rods as suggested in the plan and they run from one edge of the wing to the other... I guess this will help coro NOT to flex during the flight.

cheers!!!

Thanks for the compliments !!!

Yes the tail and rudder everything is made up of coro. I used 5mm coroplast which I got from  Mr. Nilesh in Andheri, Mumbai.

Landing gear is made up of aluminium . Fortunately I had these from one of my old seagull models.

Thanks.

That's interesting to know. The reason I suggested bigger controls was based on comparing the RCDhamaka Yak 54 I have which is a similar profile 3D plane, and the controls surfaces (compared to the wing) are bigger.

BTW, the original plan seems to have a vertical piece for the fuse.

Hi,

Yes, the fuse is very much there in the original plan... the fuse will just add a little more stability to the plane... however... i wanted to try without the fuse... looks better..  :P

Lets see how she does in the air and then maybe I can modify... currently I am working on putting some more decals.

Cheers !!!

Colorful :)

What really matters is the underbelly though... hope you put some nose-to-tail oriented wide lines/stripes (or something similar) there (black lines really help).
