Title: Gas/Petrol Field Tank Doubt: Gas Gurus Please help
Post by: samlikespad on March 12, 2013, 05:15:37 PM
Re-posting as a separate post as am a bit desperate to find this out:

How do other gassers store their gas (Petrol)? What kind of containers are used to take fuel to the field? what are the different plumbing options for them? Do I have to go for specific brands of containers? or can we make our own petrol "field cans" with custom made plumbing options? How do we measure the petrol/oil mixture ? Please show some light   I tried searching, looked into some of the posts but couldn't find much on this

Sam i have tried all kinds of DIY, once switched to Jersey Modellor's can i was sorted. jersey modellor cans are expensive, but worth the money. Sharad is good source for the can

Couldn't find any thing good enough so used an oil can for the time being. Will have to look around more. Now that I maiden-ed my first gasser and second flight it ate mud :( Its being repaired with the help of a fellow flier. I posted this in the build log but unfortunately, no one has seen it.

Gusty bhai, can you tell me from the sound of the engine how rich/lean is it? I found both lean in the first flight and after landing tried to fix it. It performed better but now I have a feeling that its bit rich at both ends.

Apart from these damages, the fuel nipple on the carburetor broke! Any idea for a quick fix? I have gone through many suggesion on rcg, rcu etc... but if anyone has a simple effective idea, would be a great help :)

Sam
from what i heard, (a) she is too low ldle, (b) Tad bit lean

What you could do
1. have two idle, one for flight and one for finals (Using idle down)

2. if you can go from idle to full throttle smoothly you are tuned good. If it dies suddenly when you open throttle from idle the low speed needle is too lean, if it rough runs with a lot of smoke and or hesitates at about 40% or so then picks up/cuts it is  rich to too rich.

Thanks Gusty Bhai! Transition frm low to high was smooth except at WOT where it misses a strock or two. And one of our experienced guys here thinks its too rich while another thinks its perfect. Thats when I decided to check with you :)
