I have done few things in the airplane of which I have no pictures. The work done is the canopy hatch alignment with phenolic lugs attachment and the cowl adjustment. But, what I can do is to put pictures of the work done with explanation of how I have done.

Hello,
I have few pics of the work I have done on the stabs. The orignal method was to drill the whole on to the tube of the stab to hold it on to the fuselage. Instead what I did is to make carbon horns which will be glued inside of the stabs at the root rib and get screwed on to the fuselage side for a easy removal. I could not click pic. of the servo arm slot at the time of work.

Ok Guy's Smiley

Found some time today and fixed the control Horn to the Left Elevator.  This is one of the most critical area's in the composite airplanes. You have to look for the hidden wooden block inside the Elevator, then see for the proper alignment with the push rod and the servo arm. Make correct location and then drill for the Control horn slots to seat in. Make sure you put sufficient glue inside.

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

Coming up nicely !

Is this the norm in larger size ARF planes that you have to find the location and cut out the covering at many places when you are installing the servos and linkages ?

On the smaller ARFs, I have pretty much always seen that such location are pre-marked (and many times cut out), and the worst is to just cut out the covering material (in other words, the location is pretty much fixed).

Anwar,
This is a fully composite built airplane, which means the top skin which is usually a Monokote or  Oracover plastic film is replaced with the composite (Fiber Glass) laminate. Inside are wooden Ribs and Blocks to give Structure a shape and strength.

As composite is translucent in nature to figure out where is what is difficult. If u place in front of a light source u can see inside like a X ray film the Rib structure.

Thanks

Thanks guy's, well I am planning a 3W 110 CSi 99%. I did some work on the Wing Servo enclosing pictures. Their are four servos on total 2 each wing. The servos are JR 8711 digital high torque 25 KG with SWB 2" arm's and 3.5" Titanium Turn Buckles. The wing servo instillation is fairly simple:

Their are 4 servo Bays already made having 4 servo mounting plates which are attached to the lower side of each wing with 4 screws. Simply unscrew the, servo mounting plates, drill holes and install the servo with supplied 4 self threading screws.

This model making is too addictive. I started in the morning @ 9 am  Drool and finished almost around 2 hours back. The Krill Katana 33% comes with a Fiberglass Silver Carbon Finish, which some how I did not like much, so I cut it out >Cheesy.....  It was a brave hart decision for me to take as it could have been a loss making decision if I would have cut the hatch instead of the Silver canopy.

Everything went well as I expected. Now the model has a Clear canopy. Will post pictures tomorrow.

Yeah,
I very much fly in Delhi, but grounded for past 5 months due to lots of politics around. I haven't got the engine as yet so it may take a month or more to show you setup. But if you want I have some pictures of the 50 cc with canister on. Do you fly in Delhi as well?

But I have experiance only with push and pull type connection with 2 servos. in this picture it looks like both servos will pull or push together.

yes I fly at the Bhondsi field, and sometimes at Sohna - though I have not flown for more than a month due to work and also the extreme heat in Delhi. Waiting for some cooler weather to maiden my 50cc edge 540.
yes please do post some pics of your 50cc set up - both engine and radio compartment -if possible - it would be helpful for me since I am in the process of setting my plane up. thanks!

Well thanks guys for your kind comments. The airplane cost Will be a shocking one which as under:

1. Krill Katana 28 % = 85000/-
2. 3W 55CSi with canister = 65000/-
3. JR 8511 servos = 5000 X 5 = 25000/- all control surfaces
4. JR 811 Throttle and Hitec 595 choke = 3000/-
5. SWB arms = 850 each X 5 = 4250/-
6. SWB Turnbuckles = 850 X 2 pairs = 1700/-

How is the power supply to the servos. Are you using a regulator? Head Scratching

Thanks once again. I do not have any videos with me flown only 5 - 6 times. Fly's and tracks great no trim require during flight every thing just perfect. No CG adjustment. I had adjusted it laterally a bit . The voltage of the battery is around 8.2 v I am regulating it to 6.0v. Get around 15 kgs of torque each servo.

Hi Guys,
Some more progress in the K33. Its a time consuming job. I have finally been able to align the cowl with the hatch and make vents for the engine. Cowl is half done. Enclosing 2 pictures with my so. Enjoy!

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

Didn't quite realize that the bigger ones take such a prolonged effort.

Why are the vents not factory cut ? To handle the possibility of various engine types ? If they are always going to be at the bottom, factory cutting would have made more sense, right ?

Anwar,
Every one has his own choice of making vents on a cowl. Mostly vents are at the bottom only. So its your choice what shape and size do wanna consider while making the vents. Different engines also matter in the design factor of the vents.

Toucan -are you planning to baffle the engine for cooling. Also another idea would be to make some louvers for the vents - to create low pressure to extract the air. Here is a link to an interesting discussion on the topic.
