very nice bird. but for a first plane, the TT ready 40 which has a tricycle under carriage rather than a tail dragger would have been a better idea. anyway all the very best

Avijit

Planning to switch the propeller from 10x8 to 11x6, otherwise everything is fine.

Thanks

Arun

I was wondering if he would land in that almost non-existent runway ! Good decision in the end.

Mr. Rajesh who test flew the Beaver is Mode 1 and he used his JR 9 channel mode 1 radio, the trimming part was done on his radio.

Now that I am on Mode 2, I will have to trim the Airplane on my first flight.

I am planning to maiden the Beaver myself at Madurai, will post the video here.

Thanks

Arun

Hi All,

Here is the video of my first flight on Beaver at Madurai.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75apQfpGhO0

This is my first flight on rc planes after 3-4 months of rigorous sim practice, I chose to train myself on a Mustang model in the sim just to make sure that I feel comfortable on the real one.

Everything went by as expected, although little nervous to start out as I had no experienced pilot beside me. Somehow I made up my mind to treat everything as though I am on sim and voila there she goes very smooth and agile.

Succesfully done 3 flights:

1st Flight :- Take off was good. Flew around trying to get a good landing approach as I always overshot the runway. On landing the plane bounced once and settled as I had already touchdown on the middle of the runway the plane stopped on hitting a bush. - No Damages.

2nd Flight:-  Take off was good. Flew around trying to get a good landing approach as I always overshot the runway. Did some very slow low pass over the runway.  On landing the plane touched down smoothly as I had already touchdown on the middle of the runway the plane stopped on hitting the same  bush. - Again No Damages.

3rd Flight:-  Take off was good. Flew around trying to get a good landing approach as I always overshot the runway. Did some slow low pass over the runway. Took her further away this time. On landing the plane touched down smoothly as I had already touchdown on the middle of the runway this time around the plane slowed down consderably as I flared it on its approach and the plane stopped within the runway - Great Feeling

I will spend some more time on the sim to perfect my landings further.

I reiterate after my stint with the helis on sim, the real airplane was easier to fly than the ones on the sim.

Beginners Note:- Those who yearn to get into this hobby, practice practice and practice on the sim before your first flight on the real ones. As the models are costly, it is obvious a minor mistake and crash could dishearten and push you out of the hobby.
There are lot of setting on the sim which can be tweaked to bring the models close to the real ones. Once you are really very very good in sim, I am sure you will enjoy the real ones.

Thanks
Arun

Congrats Arun!! Your sim practice paid off well {:)}
About landing, I think you should start your approach little higher and further away. I am also practicing my landings on the sim right now :)

hi arun you got a very beautiful girl over there! congrats
she is flying almost flawlessly! and nice flying too! landing gets better after some more flights!
difference between sim and real ones is ,in the sim wind speed will be constant and will be in one direction ,but in real wind speed varies and also directions! for this you need to be ready to compensate accordingly!
all the best for your future flights!
happy landings!

Hi Praveen,
Thanks for the compliment and advice.

As I am practicing on Reflex XTR sim I have been able to vary windspeed direction and gusts. I have also practised takeoffs and landing on crosswind conditions too. Engine side thrust settings has also been tweaked.

All this effort to save my beautifull girl as she is very close to my heart.

Thanks
Arun

Thanks to Sushil Anand Ji for helping me on phone with the clunk line setup and advice on how to fly a tail dragger.

As the beaver is a tail dragger I was a bit apprehensive to maiden her. It was only because of the advice of Mr. Sushil Anand that I could gather confidence of flying her myself.

Thanks Once Again, Sir.

Regards

Arun

Depik

I was just about to post a suggestion when I got a "warning" re: a "new post".

I feel you should be coming in slower. Throttle back earlier and you will find it settling in much more comfortably.

I am glad I could be of - albeit rather limited - help. You are welcome to call again anytime.
