RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

Nice Thumbs Up

It is always a pleasure to see these big guys land, but that part seems to be edited out of the video.

Also, why was the fuel tank fitted out on the side of the fuse for some time, just a quick way to test the engine ?

Yes it did a very very good landing. This video was about 18min and while uploading utube allowed only 14:23min so the landing is missing and I dont know how to cover those 4 mins.

During test flight some thing caused fuel tank to send bubbles to the engine. I dont have enough time to come for its next test flight. So my friend Sandeep temporarily  mounted the fuel tank outside and his idea worked. So we did its test flight. And its landings are Awesome. Like a real Cub

One quick solution is to have a new shortened video of just the flight alone, which seems to be less than 10 minutes (without all the intro/setup stuff).

During test flight some thing caused fuel tank to send bubbles to the engine. I dont have enough time to come for its next test flight. So my friend Sandeep temporarily  mounted the fuel tank outside and his idea worked. So we did its test flight.

Fuel for discussion Smiley

What causes bubbles ?  Just not enough foam padding for the tank ?  Also, if the clunk is at the bottom of the tank during upright flight, the bubbles should not affect anything (except when the fuel level in the tank is low towards the end of the flight).  Yet I have seen bubbles creep up with a full tank of fuel, why does this happen ?

Bubbles =
1.Primarily due to pin holes in the fuel pickup if the bubbles are originating in the feed tube. Many a times the connection at the metal pipe out of tank and silicone pipe itself is the biggest culprit, where the burrs left on the pipe cause pin holes

2. Could be pin hole, air leak in the feeder pipe (between NV assy and carb) or ill fittings on the hardware (engine).
3. If you have fuel foaming/vibration problems it would manifest in form of intermittent supply of fuel in the main feed pipe.
4. Sometime if the pickup has pin holes it may start showing up as bubbles after the fuel level has gone down exposing the leak part of the pipe to air in the tank.
5. I had a problem with my cub where the cracked 'o' ring on remote fuel filler started to suck in air sending stream of bubbles in the feed. Was a hell of a problem to sort out till the time the culprit was found
6. If using a fuel filter in between the tank and carb this introduces three places where leaks can creep in the two connections each side and the filter body (where it screws together)

Would leave it for others to chip in with thier bits

My engine is OS 120FS 3rd.

Yes I think there is not enough foam padding.

Paramvir,
I do not know your intent of starting the video with the Tiger cubs, but the "Cub" as in Piper refers to Bear Cub not the tiger.
I am sure you would already know that

Why not call it "Tiger Cub" ? It even rhymes with "Piper Cub"
And best of all the translation in Punjabi could be " Sher Puttar" Giggle
