Nothing, nothing, nothing flies like Senior Telemaster! Of course, this enthusiastic exclamation is advertising, but it should be sincere as well, even more than only a little.

Telemaster was likely designed by Karl-Heinz Denzin, a well-known German model designer. The rights on the model had Alexander Engel, who produced it in his own factory. Later, he gave license to Jim Martin, owner of HobbyLobby and the model was redesigned and produced by the well-known Joe Bridi.

Originally there were three sizes, the “standard” Telemaster, Senior Telemaster and Junior Telemaster. They had 1.8 m, 2.4 m, and 1.24 m wing span, giving the nice round numbers of about 6 ft, 8 ft, and 4 ft in Imperial units. Today there are also a Mini and Micro Telemaster and even the 12 ft Giant Telemaster.

Due to their high-lift airfoils, Telemaster and Telemaster-Senior are very well suited for special tasks like banner tow, leaflet or parachute dropping, aerial photography, etc., but they are suited only for rather simple aerobatics.The Telemaster became famous in Europe as one of the original planes was used to
carry a line across a chasm for building a bridge. First a small line was carried across and once done, larger and larger lines were pulled across. This is the claim to fame for the Sr. Telemaster. Probably the first industrial use for a model airplane.

This aircraft design has been around for a number of years in Germany, and has been
used to string telephone lines across deep ravines, which task would otherwise require
the use of a full-size helicopter

 This model is - as far as is known - the first workhorse of the air and was rigged for banner and glider tow, photography, as well as candy or skydiver dropping. In the USA, the model even became famous because it helped running a power line across a chasm and saved hefty helicopter expenses.

Fuselage build

4 mm corro used, with 1.5 mm light ply. Front former and firewall are 8 mm Poplar ply, 2nd former 3 mm ply, all others 4 mm balsa. Triangular stock craved out and used for reinforcement

The table is 8 feet long

Weight is the last thing to worry about.
The original balsa one was under 6 lbs (2700gm)
I doubt if your Coro version will exceed 5kg (11 lbs)
It has nearly 10 sqft wing area, and can surely carry 2 lbs/sqft loading.
So you have 3-4 kg of spare capacity for payload!
BTW, what engine? 60?

Krunal has just built a lovely 10ft span Bird of Time airframe. I think he’s still experimenting with the covering materials I sent him!
Now you’re building an 8ft span Sr Telemaster.

And here I am, building another 24” Indore Bipe for the Guy asking for Telemaster plans...

The performance of the original @ 2700 gms was superior to the performance of the RCM/Joe Bridi? Hobby Lobby version, which would got to 4500+ gms. That's why I'm trying to make it as light as possible, though I doubt I'll be going below 4 Kg

Planning to use a OS 55 AX with 12*6 prop for now. Let's see how it goes

Rai Sir,

Looking at your build on Senior Telemaster, I could not stop myself writing on your thread.  It freshened up my memories about a Balsa Senior Telemaster I had in my possession 15 years back and one line that holds true about this model is

“Nothing flies like a Telemaster”.

It is a dream machine.

Telemaster is a sheer pleasure to fly and watch.  It is the best trainer that has ever been produced.    It has good glide ratio and I was never able to land it in single attempt.  Just at 4 to 5 ft height, it used cover the whole ground. It simply refused to land even on idle. Spoilers were badly needed.  

I will eagerly watch this thread of a creation by a master builder as it takes shape of a Master of flying.

Wish you a good luck on your build and eagerly await flight vedeo.

Good build Sir, I have built many version of the telemaster.

You should add the Aileron servo ply mount before folding the wing.

whats the total weight of the wings sir?

It's 1100 gms. Without servos which will be 200 + ~ 100 for horns pushrods etc. Plus the weight of Ailerons and Flaps which I still have to make

Yours is about 8’ span, right?

I was wondering why you added flaps, perhaps the last thing a Telemaster needed.
The original weighed under 6 lbs, had wing loading under 9oz/sqft and took off in 3 feet with a 60!

Then I noticed the weight. Over 4.5kg, eh?
But at nearly 10sqft wing area, it’ll still only be 16oz/sqft loading, or only 80% compared to a 40 size trainer.

So why a 15cc engine and flaps?
Guess you plan to carry a huge payload!

I wish I could get a few minutes air time on your Sr Telemaster!

Res.Iyer sir my senior Telemaster weight is 7.5kg and engine .90Super Tiger , it's fly well , but I want to know what should it's ideal weight.

I compute Loading at 19 oz/sq ft, WCL at 6.5. About a trainer

But I've kept flaps because the ends of our runway have crops growing - sarson nowadays. Overshooting will create problems

Weights of modern STMs range from 4.5 Kg upwards. There really is no "standard weight"

The 15 cc Gas engine is because it balanced the CG perfectly!

A 15 cc Gasser, while being ~ 0.90 cu in displacement, does not have the power of a 90 Glow, more like a 60 Glow. The BMEP and RPM are both lower

BTW, the STM has a reputation of being a floater! It just doesn't want to land
