Title: 1st Heli crash
Post by: Divyam on April 23, 2010, 12:41:59 PM
So I bought a walkera 5g4q3 about 4 days back... I trimmed it and all and was flying it today, when I hit the tail against an object and  I cut the throttle... But then it just went on to full throttle even though the throttle was at 0... Any reason this would happen? It cant be interference because its 2.4ghz...

2 of the 4 blades are gone... :( :(

Does your radio/heli support IdleUp curve ? If you get into the Idleup mode, then what you explained would happen exactly

I don't think so...
Its a 4ch heli... Does it even have an idle up mode?

Many possibilities. If the receiver lost connection to the TX, it may go into high throttle mode. Did it behave properly when you tried it again after the crash ?

How does the Protos work, I mean do they supply their own motor in the kit, or you get it separately ?  What caused the over load ?

yes they have their motor in the kit... but overheat a lot... with the msh esc it is a disaster.. i had written to corado and he stated that one must run the motor on and above 90% throttle curve or it will shut down due to thermal issues, this dint make sense for me  but my friend who flies with me did this on his protos and crashed his last week and i got paranoid and got a 80amp Castle creation esc and was running on the CC bec too on the stock motor.. today morning running on governor mode and i was close to the ground while doing a funnel and wham the heli came down and no pitch nor pump worked.. it was a disaster, motor was absolutely hot, almost burnt my skin.. i was shocked to see the heli in this stage.. close to a writeoff case  :(... picked up wha ever was left of it.. the sab bladeds and the canopy itself was more than $ 140... the new plastic kit comes for $ 240 :giggle:... should have taken some pictures and posted here... planning to get a scorpion 880KV but will wait for more time

I use a 10$ 2215H 4000 kv motor and it does not get warm at 11 t pinion 100% throttle and people use a 13 t pinion on it w/o problems and its extremely efficient too. Just wondering why do HUGE companies charge so much $$$$ from people and give underrated stuff?  :o

@anwar
Yes, but I have only tested the servos....
Too scared to try the throttle...
