Title: 450 v2 FlySky 9x gyro settings
Post by: dheerajjuneja on July 18, 2012, 12:36:39 AM
Hi,

I am finding some issues understanding the gyro setup with flysky 9x and zd720 gyro.

It seems the gyro sensetivity settings i am doing are not having any effect while flying.

Cant really make out any difference using the settings at AVC 0 or 100, i was kinda expecting to see tail wagging at max. gain, but nothing.

How should i try to fix this issue with Tail?

No reply, even after 203 views :)

Guys, please guide a NOB, have been looking all over the internet to get help.

Would i need to setup Ch5 to Gear? As i see no difference if i do it or not, the Gyro gain still is not effective.

Have ordered a new rudder servo and a new gyro, just to ensure that the existing setup is working fine (G105 Head Lock Gyro & AC9257 servo)

Have tried to center the servo in rate mode and then switching to HH mode also :(

But somehow i am not very sure ... any help would be appreciated.

First step is to see if your gain settings are really reaching the gyro. In case your radio does not have a servo monitor, there is still a simple way to see if your gain settings are really reaching the gyro. Connect a servo to the gain channel in the rx and see it moves as you change the gain setting in tx. If it doesn't you need to check your radio settings. If it does, check you need to check the elements after rx, ie gyro, tail servo, tail mechanics etc.

Are you sure the gyro is switching between heading hold and rate mode ? If so your gain signal setting is reaching the gyro. Again there is a way to quickly check the mode your gyro is in. Move the rudder stick a little bit and hold it there. If the servo stopped when you stopped moving the stick , then the gyro is in rate mode. If the servo continues to creep, it is in heading hold mode.

hi, yes, when i flick the switch on tx it switch between the two settings, i see the led change from on to off and vice versa.

i have setup the settings for uprate and downrate in the gyrosens menu in tx and i tried to reverse the settings to see if the new settings take effect, and they do.

however, even with 100% gain in hh mode, there is no tail wagging and there is a constand left drift which i have to correct using the rudder inputs.

also, i confirmed with moving rudder stick to see if the gyro was actually in hh mode, when it said so, and yes the blades didnt centered after leaving the stick.

am i missing anything here?

Hi,

Are you able to solve this? I'm facing the same issue. I have a G105 Gyro, S9257 tail servo and  flysky th9x Tx.. phew!!! very difficult to understand this menu :banghead: dnrate uprate ???

Can you please post your settings ?

Thanks and Regards,
Srivatsa

Hi, sorry friend, i crashed trying to hover with the drifting tail. I had a different setup, however am sure we have the same issue.

I was reading somewhere that the headspeed can also cause this issue, am waiting for the spares to arrive, however you can try to change the throttle curve to increase the speed at lower end and see if that fixes it?

Let me know i can be of any help.

Oh, just realized you had a question about dnrate/uprate. These are simple (once you understand them):

The gyrosens menu helps you setup the gyro gain with the GEAR switch:
-> uprate settings apply when the gear switch is up (towards you)
-> dnrate settings apply when the gear switch is down (away from you)

This helps you switch between HH mode and rate mode in between flight, though i find it most useful for testing purpose.

- Let me know if you still have difficulties understanding it, or you can check this link here:
