Title: 9053 Volitation (brand new) multiple lift-off problems.
Post by: salil247 on August 12, 2011, 02:42:45 PM
Hi everyone! I bought a 9053 Volitation Heli in Mumbai from Alpha at Irla. Failed to lift off the first time due to non-rotating lower blades. Closer look revealed that a screw above the upper gear had come loose in the first flight I attempted! Tried to tighten it, no go, completely free, I could see plastic threading coming off. So I put an over-sized screw, taking care it didn't touch any part of the frame, and it did the job. The lower blades were not slipping anymore. Tried to fly again. This time the heli got the lifting power and hovered for 2 seconds about 5 feet high and then came back to ground for an entirely different reason. The motor for the UPPER blades quit moving! I checked the motor's wires but couldn't find anything wrong and it hasn't started ever since. The on-board battery was at full charge, transmitter batteries were brand new. So I have yet to complete a single successful flight with this heli!
Now is it normal or just my luck that a brand new heli comes with slipping gears and defective motor? Could it be that the over-sized screw I used to tighten the hold of the lower blade shaft on the gear could have short-circuited something? I'm very new to RC flying and at a complete loss. Please help me!
P.S. I have attached pics of the screw I managed to fit above the upper gear.

Hi,

9053 is a good model and I am surprised that this was the condition out of the box, anyways here's what you need to check

1. Ensure that the motors are connected well on the board
2. Ensure that the over sized screw is not hitting the frame or any other gear of the heli while you move it slowly by hand all round
3. Ensure that you have not tightened it so hard that now there is no play between the gear teeths ( main gear to motor)
4. Ensure that the battery is fully charged and you have the switch on the Rx to high or quick.
5. Make sure that the rotors are spinning in the correct direction
6. Make sure that the blades are in correct formation (A to B) on all 4 blade grips

Check the above and if this does not sort it out for you then quickly take it back to the seller before trying any more flights and get a replacement.

Thanks

I too have a Volitation 9053 & it works perfectly fine, let me know if u need pics of my heli to compare if there is any mistake in the frame or motor, also how much did u got it for from Alpha, as i bought it from Manish Mkt for 2200rs.
