Title: Advice needed for 3d practice
Post by: irshad on December 26, 2009, 12:31:18 PM
Hello to all,

I learnt 3d moves on sim and can't do those moves on my titan as i crashed my walkera 22e while doing some loops.
Please help  :help:
Other than simulator is there a way to do 3d by not destroying my models.

You'll get more specific help if you  specify which maneuver you are attempting.

One common issue is confidence, atleast that's my experience. Doing on the real thing vs  a sim is a more tense experience. In the tension it is easy to freeze your brain in situations you'll recover from without even thinking on a sim. Set your heli down or hover and then relax and go through the maneuver in your head. Prepare what you need to do to bail out if things go at each stage of the maneuver. Then make an attempt.

+1.

And remember that usually height is your friend when attempting something new.  But it can also be a curse, if your heli is small and taking it up too high will cause you to lose visibility/orientation.

BTW, as much as one may not enjoy it, the sim is THE best way to gain confidence in 3D flying.  It is how even the pros train, so us meager souls should not think twice about it !  Having a good sim does help significantly.

BTW, I have known about 15 people who do 3D heli flying. They all have crashed at least 3 times >:D

And this is true 3D flying, not just sport flight (sport flying of helis typically consists of loops, rolls, stall turns and inverted hover).

The question about Walkera radio is best a separate thread, so started this one :

Autopilots are typically used for help with initial hovering.  When you are trying to do sport flying, you should really be on your own :)

I have not owned one, but I have flown one multiple times trying to set it up.  Just hovering and minor circuits only though.
