Title: avionic x5 cyclic problem
Post by: dineashkumar on June 12, 2013, 11:50:35 AM
Hi,
i have a avionic x5, hiller 450 sport and savox sh063 for cyclics.
when setting it up,
swash is levelled at zero pitch and negative pitch.

but in full positive the swash is not level.
there is no setting to adjust the endpoints in the fbl controller?

help please

in flight you will never have the heli in max pitch position (if you are
a beginner) so do not worry about it too much.

Just do a short hover test

thank you,

this is my first heli build and i want know to know what is causing this problem and how to fix it.

the problem due to the mechanical setup or servos or fbl controller?
 :)

Is the length of travel from mid to low and mid to high same ?

Even though all three servos are same make/model, still they travel slightly different. In FB models, we used EPA to correct this issue. In my FBl controller (Robird, G31), there is an option to adjust pitch to aileron, elevator servo at the two extreme positions.

If your FBl unit does not have this option, then I am not sure how to fix it. One tip can be to get the arms at 90 degrees at center position with minimal subtrims (i.e. try a different servo arm if the existing ones are not working)

hi are u sure ur swash is level please check it properly this will mostly happn due to unlevel swash plate ....start with this make sure all the linkage rod lengths from servo to swash are as per the helicopter manual they have to be exact after this ..in avionicx5 subtrim menu make sure all the servos are exactly 90 even if its slightly off u will get different throws in the end ......be calm do this step by step as told n problem will be solved   ...i use the same and i dont have any problem with it

thank you

but i am getting 90 at mid stick with very minimal subtrim,
only problem is at full positive the elevator is not level.
and there is no option in the fbl controller for changing this?
i use Savox sh063 for cyclic.

check ur linkage rod lenght from servo to swash plate

ok do one thing do u have a swash leveling tool since ur a beginner it might be lil difficult to get it directly ....are these the measurements ur getting between the end of the plastic links elevator 17mm,aileron 10mm,pitch 21.5mm ????????????????

Title: Re: avionic x5 cyclic problem
Post by: dineashkumar on June 12, 2013, 03:53:06 PM
thank you

yes i have a swash level tool.

i will check the length and tell u.
but i think the length is as per the FB manual.

do these lengths are same for pro, sport and v2?

no i gues for sport and v2 it might be same for pro it is different as all servos are mounted at one level seperate distance is not required ...those measurements are for the sport only please measure all to exact length

okay sure i will check and tell u.
may i know where u got those lengths?
if from the manual can u send me the link or something.

thank you

hi,
i checked the lengths and it was little off, now i changed according to the manual.
and at setting h in avionic x5, all the servos are at 90 with the lengths in manual but now swash is not level totally wrong.

it cannot be possible u are doing something wrong please post pics with the throttle stick in middle showing swash and all three servos one by one

these pic are taken in step H in avionic x5.
where the servos are centered and servo horns are at 90.

Post by: Shannon on June 12, 2013, 09:39:42 PM
u know all ur servos are perfect and front to rods are of perfect length so now in these situations its time to improvise so ur elevator linkage shorten it till u get the swash level ....do the same for aileron and pitch if needed

Post by: saikat on June 12, 2013, 09:42:29 PM
your servo arms don't look centered

when you took the shot what was  your tx throttle stick position ? 50 % ?

Title: Re: avionic x5 cyclic problem
Post by: dineashkumar on June 12, 2013, 09:46:18 PM
okay thank you,
i will do that but whats the problem ?
everything is according to the manual but y its not level?

mechanical error cant cause this much difference right?

 :headscratch:

Title: Re: avionic x5 cyclic problem
Post by: Shannon on June 12, 2013, 09:46:49 PM
saikat the frame of the sport is weird it places the front two servos at an angle so the servo arms seem to be not aligned at 90

Title: Re: avionic x5 cyclic problem
Post by: Shannon on June 12, 2013, 09:48:45 PM
dineash these things happen those lengths in manual are just shown as starting reference points the end result u may have different lengths of the rods for perfect swash dont worry adjust the lengths and get the swash level

again the problem.
i changed the links and at mid stick swash is level but at negative and positive its not level? aileron and pitch not level in negative and positive
 :help:

which servo is moving more ail or pitch

can u also send me a picture of the swash from the front of the heli full positive and negative

Title: Re: avionic x5 cyclic problem
Post by: dineashkumar on June 12, 2013, 11:37:54 PM
full negative aileron and pitch not level (pic 1)
full positive elevator is not level(pic 2)

Title: Re: avionic x5 cyclic problem
Post by: Shannon on June 12, 2013, 11:49:16 PM
Elevator is fine.... I'll have to check again but use travel adjust and increase travel on pitch servo only in right direction and then ccheck again and c if it solves ur problem

Title: Re: avionic x5 cyclic problem
Post by: dineashkumar on June 13, 2013, 12:00:26 AM
its no working.
same problem after changing travel adjust.
 :headscratch:

Title: Re: avionic x5 cyclic problem
Post by: Shannon on June 13, 2013, 12:18:24 AM
Are u increasing the travel in the right direction

Title: Re: avionic x5 cyclic problem
Post by: dineashkumar on June 13, 2013, 12:21:16 AM
yes i tried in both direction but not happening.

when setting up the heli
i kept the servos in different way.
i swapped the aileron and pitch servos.
is that causing these problems?

Title: Re: avionic x5 cyclic problem
Post by: Shannon on June 13, 2013, 12:41:44 AM
No I don't think so it should be a problem as long as u have connected the servos in the order they have to be connected Idoubt u will have a problem..... U actually ddon't need to bother cause ur not going to use full positive and negative so I think u should finish ur set up... I try and c what can be done for uneven servo travel

i couldnt find anything please check
thank you

hi dineash i looked around dont worry bout that the gyro will compensate automatically for the servo one of the reason there is no EPA in tht ...so as long ur swash is center at mid stick ur good to go

Title: Re: avionic x5 cyclic problem
Post by: dineashkumar on June 13, 2013, 12:54:20 PM
okay thank you i will check again everything and go for a maiden.
thank you so much :)

and i got this manual
http://www.helifleet.com/manual/c824:m259/align/450-3g-fbl-en-pdf

in this the linkage rods are same but the ball links are different.
i will try this too.

Hi shannon,

now i have a weird problem,
after leveling swash and 90 servo arm at step H, once i exit the setting the swash is not level at mid stick and pitch curves are linear.
 :help:

yes, when in flying mode its not level. it is on a flat surface and linear pitch curve.
i am using RCB 7X

ok have u selected no mix or 1 servo in swash selection right

Title: Re: avionic x5 cyclic problem
Post by: dineashkumar on June 14, 2013, 12:03:00 PM
yes its 1 servo in swash selection.

Title: Re: avionic x5 cyclic problem

may be ur servos are not moving in right direction reverse them

Title: Re: avionic x5 cyclic problem
Post by: Shannon on June 14, 2013, 12:19:41 PM
when ur throttle stick is in the middle the servo in the centre leave it the servo which is gone up or down reverse it u will get swash centre

its moving right.
but i dont know what is the problem now.

Hi Shannon,

How do u measure the pitch in FBL heli?
i have a normal pitch gauge.

hi dineash i had a problem yest my posts were not going through .....it is not as accurate as digital but it gets the job done and its very close the measurements ..here is wat u need to do take a a4 size paper draw straight lines from one end to another end make sure the lines are straight leave a gap of 3 cm between the lines now ..
