Hi All,

I fly couple of trex 550's and the ESC that i use is a kantronic Jive 80 LV on one of them and the governor mode works fantastic,however the other 550 i have has stock Align 70A ESC and i cannot get the Governor to work at all .It does not feel good.I had almost crashed it with bad tail wags.

If anyone has sucessfully used a Align 70A Esc on a trex 550 with Governor mode,kindly help.

i suggest u switch to a castle creations esc or yge esc or u can get the yge esc clone from hobbyking called ygp those governors work flawless dont try and break your head on a stock align esc the governor never works ....

What is a governor?

ESC governor basically maintains ur heli rpm traditionally we set pitch curves like 100 95 90 95 100 for 3d flights we also set curves like 100 100 100 100 100 flat line to maintain a certain rpm ....say we want 3000 rpm so 90%throttle gives us that but to compensate for high pitch and motor load we have to increase throttle in order not to let the rpm drop so we set 100 95 90 95 100 ...but alot of power in this curve is wasted and sometimes not needed causing low flight times ...this is where ur esc governor comes into play and is very helpful ...we set main gear pinion motor kv and motor pole count digitally into the esc so after setting these values the esc knows and calculates the total rpm next step is to just set your rpm needed like 2600rpm for normal flights or 3200 for 3d flights the governor maintains 2600rpm or 3200 rpm in all flight conditions automatically by increasing throttle and maintaining rpm .....its a good thing to have a governor ....
