hi mate.
I am an electric flyer not liquide fuels but maybe turn the mix a little ..........
that does not look too bad a hover...2ft high is easier, as you are out of the turbulance from the main rotor.
and when still learning to hover the calmer a day the better. Smiley
I find here it is calmer 'early morning' and 'just befor' dusk.

no don't upgrade to c/f blades they do more damage in a crash. stick with woodies
don't wory about another model yet you are looking at about a year or so befor you will have 'outgrown' that one.
you first have to be able to take off and land 'gently.'
then hover tail in, in a 3ft square [ imaginary]
then you have to learn to hover side on....both sides......... in the same 3 ft square.
then hover with the nose to you .....in the same 3ft square......... all this without gaining or loosing height
.then you learn forward and backward flight. then you learn sideways flight.
then go on to learn figure '8' and circutes.
then there is the option of learning 3D ...rolls , upside down flight, loops etc.
then think about another heli. Wink
list your radio .
regards
don

My radio is spektrum dx8 with telemetry module and Heli model is a Hiribo 30 Sceadu with size 37 engine
But were I am it remains gusty all day even in the mornings so there is no ideal time to fly I have been speaking to actual helicopter pilots so they suggest keep throttle and pitch unchanged the model will level out when gust ends so will try and implement that i was giving corrections so the heli was dropping altitude suddenly as seen in the video
(will try and change it to 40 or something or maybe 30 series only but that's in future as of now engine is good)
Thank you for your suggestion any further input from a heli veteran is welcome i will like to improve further

hi mate.
set you throttle for some thing like 0,40,80.80,80,
the first 80 being half throttle unless you got a Governor.....not sure on fuel engines.............. you need the revs high constantly above 1/2 throttle. then when you move the throttle stick up from half throttle it is only the blade pitch which changes ........... the motor stays revving the same.....and makes control easier with high rotor speed  [ head-speed]
it will be more stable and respond to cyclic stick quicker.
get a digital rev gauge for the rotor this measures you head speed ...all blades should be marked with the max head-speed, woodies are 2400, glass fiber about the same, carbon fiber up to 3100 I think, don't get the cheap ones they tend to break at the bolt hole.
your swash mix could go to 50% on all three settings that is the normal 50% to 70%
if your loosing height when it moves sideways or forward / back this is because it builds a column of air to sit on and when it moves it has to rebuild the column.
so constant up/down on the throttle is needed as well as on the ele and ail.

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

I can't speak for full scale helis, but RC helis do NOT stay at one place without control inputs (or special circuitry). The only place they tend to "stay where they are" usually is on the sim !

You have to FLY them all the time.  That is part of the training one has to acquire (usually with the help of a sim). Corrections will be needed on all controls (ailerons, elevators, pitch/throttle and rudder).

Will implement this and see, I will install flymentor this week end too so I will be able to guage what works best for me. But thanx for you detailed input this can be directly put in the radio (I was running throttle curve as per robo manual i.e. 10, 25,50,75, 95 (I hope i am right)) I will keep you posted
One more thing can you help me in getting glass fiber blades 550mm for 30 size engine i am not finding it on RC hobby shops online (uptill now)
thank you once again

at your level ,wood , gf , cf blades does not matter what you fly except when u crash it is going to hurt more with expensive blades. cost of blades and more parts will for sure brake with stiffer blades

when u have come to a point where you can fly ffw circuits and stall turns and rolls and it is time to start practice inverted flight u can start thinking of up grading to fg or cf blades

then if you want to start to learn 3d you should use a blade that is not to stiff and have to much bite, a blade that forgive a bit but have good tracking

to much bite will only make it harder to fly and will bog your motor.

like cyb or edge fb if you use fb,cyb or edge fbl if use fbl

but saying that probably new and better blades are out when u have reached that level.

i would stick with the stock blades that came with the machine. And follow the suggestion given by Sunk for keeping a high headspeed that really helps in keeping it stable. if you need spare blades.. let me know :-)

hi mate.
why do you keep on about fiber glass blades?
woodies are for learning and if you get align they are good...fiber glass is cheap in quality compared to woodies.

Wood blades take any impacts better, causing less damage to other parts of the heli (especially the head). Thus they are good choices for beginners.  Note that wood blades are not built for very high headspeeds, but should work well beginner hovers where such high headspeeds are not needed as well.  Those high headspeeds are needed for aerobatics and 3D, and you will need better blades as well.

don where i am quality is an issue so i would prefer NOT LOOSING my heli for a low quality blade this hobby is indeed expensive so...... glass fiber for me as quality no matter how oor it is i can get better than wood here in India, but as you can see there are no suggestions for blades so...... this is an indication enough how abundant resources are here in India
