Dear RCmembers,
I am a new and beginner in this forum. Suddenly I envy towards to the RC items ,especially with helicopter. But I don't have no idea about this. So some expert user please advice me to buy the chopper. My expectation is mentioned below

Price Range: Rs.5000 to Rs.10000
Where i can buy?
Battery time ???
RC channel length ???
Helicopter length ( I need big one )

Please suggest me to buy this (I am from bangalore )

Unless you want to throw away :Rs: 10K, please do spend some time reading the existing threads here on starting with RC.  Specifically, you will crash the heli the first time around, unless you train yourself using simulator software on a computer.  Secondly, there are two categories people go for.  One is sort of toy grade, which are low cost ready-to-fly (RTF) combinations with the heli, radio and everything else needed to fly, but these do not last and parts support is next to non-existant.  These are low cost (within your budget), but very few of these are outdoor models.  Once the heli breaks, the rest of the stuff pretty much becomes useless.

Or you can spend a bit more, and get a better set that can last longer, with parts support, and you can mix and match the items (get a new heli and use the same radio etc).

Short story, you have got a bit of research to do !

Thanks to Anwar Bhai, this forum has helped me save quite an amount of money and helps me arrive at the right decision. I spent a couple of weeks before getting into this hobby completely.  Please keep the following things in mind:

1. Read a lot - http://www.rcindia.org/rc-india-forum/the-rc-india-gems/ (http://www.rcindia.org/rc-india-forum/the-rc-india-gems/) to start with then read the others
2. This certainly is an expensive hobby so please be careful because you soon outgrow the models you buy if it is something that is very easy to fly.
3. Please invest in a good simulator first (Reflex etc.)- this helps in slashing down the running costs you incur in this hobby. Please practice for at least an hour a day on it.
4. Take time and think over twice before buying anything. Transmitters especially as Anwar mentioned above.
5. Speak to people in this hobby - you get a lot of info by discussing
6. Read point 1 again

Prakash you can call vikas if you want. He is building his heli -HK450. Personally heli is a costly business buddy. Even i wanted helis when i came to know about it but then read about and started with chuck gliders - cheap, massive knowledge base about trimming a model, unbreakable (read-can be fixed a million times). Bought a samll 3ch heli- its awesome fun :D. Took a lot of time and bought the cheapest radio i could find - but good enough for flying. Will buy some more equipment and scratch build a plane first. Later il graduate to helis when the time come (read-when i start earning :D). In this long journey i have learnt a LOT! You should meet people with similar interests only then you can learn. So your first job is to make firends with heli guys. :) Cheers.

A lot of RTF helis are available in the market. DO NOT BUY form toy shops as they are HUGELY overpriced! 5k for a 3ch heli in indiranagar!!!!!!! If you want an RTF look through the mega list of rc stores and buy from a RC HOBBY SHOP.
RTF may give you what you want - fun - but for a few weeks. Making one from a kit is where the fun lies and on that road you will learn a lot whic will be usefull for a healthy hobby. If you are serious then a HK450 is the lower bar - if not the lama should be good. I still like my 3ch tiny copter :D
