Hi all,
can we use this gyro for a 500 heli ?

http://www.rcbazaar.com/products/790-g105-head-lock-gyro.aspx
How can we make out if its suitable for a 500 heli.

Product reviews are good but for a 450 heli.

also can someone tell me how do we choose the electronics for 500 heli? I'm actually looking for the parameters by which i can decide if the part is suitable for 500 heli.

Esc ampere rating depends on the peak motor current. hence, if i choose a motor, i can easily choose an esc.

but how about the motor itself ? How to decide Huh?  similarly how do i choose the cyclic servos ?

Dear Srivatsa, you can ask the store owner Sujju bai about this gyro and I'm sure he will be happy to help you in choosing the electronics also.

when I am sober my heli is drunk..

For a 500 size heli you can use the following:
Servos : Hitec HS-225, HS-5245. There are Futaba and JR servos also, but I have not used them so can't tell. You can also get servos of the same specs on HK, but remember while buying from HK, try buying metal geared ones as the plastic ones tend to buzz and crip and sometimes fail on load.
This one is a good option http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9391
Mostly 500 suitable sized servos weigh around 23~28gms.
For the motor, there are many options at HK, for instance, I used this one on mine before and it gave me good performance: http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__9764__Hobby_King_500H_Heli_Motor_1600kv_500_Class_.html
I used a Turnigy ESC but I can't recall which one in particular.
For the gyro, if you want a long term investment go for the Spartan Quark. You can use it on helis from 450~the larger nitro ones(personal preference)

Hope this helps.

To answer your first question,

Yes this Gyro can be used with a 500 size heli as it's more about the right kind of servo you use which should be suitable and should have enough torque to handle a 500 size heli.

and RCB has some good digital/fast tail servos which are for 500 size helis.

so for a servo, to be selected for a 500 heli, if torque is the main factor, then what is the range ?

from google, i found that the tail servo must be very fast to be able to keep the heli stable (head holding). and what about the motor ? 1600kv ?

i found out that kv is actually rpm per volt. 1600 kv motor drawing 10 amp of current turns at 16000 Rpm. What is the decisive factor for the motor to be selected for 500 heli ?

any idea? any one knows any link which answers all these in detail ?

You should look at some specs of exisitng 500 size heli motors and create a benchmark for the type of Head speed you are looking for in realtion to what you are going to do with the Heli like normal sport flying for which you don't need high rpm or extreme 3D which needs high rpm and then select the motor accordingly.

Also  don't worry about the range of the tail servo as normally the tail servo moves within the normal range which is supported by all brands.

Decide what you are look for, higher head-speed -> higher kv
Higher torque -> lower kv

Try these at RCB
