Title: Hard landed heli.
Post by: srivatsa on May 29, 2012, 12:48:43 PM
Hi guys,

My heli got carried away by gust winds yesterday evening and I lost control did a very hard landing .. luckily I had the training gear. which took most of the impact..

After this i'm getting some noise when I spool because of the main shaft becoming loose.. Is this because of the bearing? Or the ring which is just below the swash ? ( not sure what its called ) any thoughts?

That is a little too much play, you should lower the collar on top thus preventing the shaft from sliding up and down so much.

As for the sound, please look for any issues with the teeth on any one of the gears.  Gears mean not just the set of two main gears, but also the smaller gears that help drive the tail.

Thanks sir, collar is tightly held on to the main shaft.. Even after removing the grub screws. Hence I thought collar and main shaft is a single unit :P that made me wonder how I could suppress the play..
