Title: help for trex 700 FBL
Post by: AJAY on January 08, 2011, 10:06:35 PM
Hi friends,
Got my TREX 700 FBL nitro with OS 91 HZ 2 days back.
Started the assembly and faced one problem.
When i installed the engine in to the main frame the cooling fan is touching the the fan cover.
Tried to adjust the fan cover but unable to adjust.
Shall i cut the fan cover?.
Pl suggest the remedy.

Generally you should not need to cut.  Just a bit of realigning SHOULD do it.  It is designed to fit well. Initially, do not tighten any of the screws fully, place it without it touching anything, and then tighten the screws in round-robin.

Also make sure your clutch assembly is built well (i.e. without any protrusions... everything where they are supposed to be !)

Dear Anwar
The problem is solved but i feel that fan adjustment is very  very critical with Trex 700 there is hardly any margin available in cover, I am afraid it may touch the cover again.  Right Now i am working on electronics part and  post the pictures soon.

Thax a lot for u r valuable suggestion. :)

Yes, there is not MUCH space to move around in the fan shroud.  But there are many 1000s of these flying around (the Trex 600Ns also have a similar design), so it should not be a problem in practice, if you are careful with how you tighten the screws.

You may have done it already, but shorten that fuel line that is protruding out, and secure the other wires (like the one from the gyro/sensor etc).

Dear Anwar ji
I am trying to setup the radio but facing a very diffrent kind of problem which i never faced with other normal helis.
When i move the throttle from 0 to 100 the swashplate is moving up all the way and all the three servos are moving in same direction. But when i bring it back from 100 to zero then around 15% to 5% throttle the elevator servo moves in reverse direction ( Means the swash tilt a little backwards) and again it becomes normal from 5% to 0%. I am using Futaba 10CHG tramsmitter with RF 6008 receiver, the pitch range set up is -5 to +10 in normal.
Tried to adjust AFR values for pitch and elevator but no sucess.
Is it due to FBL unit behaviour as i read in the manual that some times swash plate may not level when switched on and it becomes level during flight also the manual suggest not to adjust it with trims.
Kindly suggest the remedy.

Before we look further, please confirm these :

1.  There are NO "valley"s or "peaks" in your pitch curve, around the 10% mark.

2.  Try disabling (INHibiting) any "Hover Pitch" setup your have in your radio.

3.  Are you absolutely sure that this does not happen on the way up also ?  Have you looked at this closely ?

hello ajay
is this a 3g unit ?

is this behavior in set up mode or after or both?

if it is a 3g did u set up cyclic range with 0 pitch?

Friends
Thax for your valuable suggestions this is a 3g unit.

The problem is solved by fully resetting the transmitter, FBL unit and mechanically adjusting servos for binding.I think elevator servo was misbehaving due to some binding/overloading.

Now  I have done all the cyclic adjustments at 0 pitch position and the mechenical set up is perfect 90 degree for 0 pitch.

When i tilt the hele to right the swash plate tilts to left and comes back to neutral slowly even when the heli  is still tilted. Is this the feature of FBL or swash should remain tilted with the corresponding position of heli. the same thing is happening with elevator.

Wish you had not done that... now we don't know what the issue was ! It is best to try one change at a time :)

What you described is the main duty of the FBL system.  It keeps the swash level, thus stabilizing the heli.  Before flying, you have to check that the swash remains level regardless of whichever side you tilt the heli.

Dear Anwar
The problem was with the setting of FBL unit as when i was adjsting  the FBL the thottle position was 0 where the the pitch is -5 degree it should be 0 degree as suggested in manual mistake on my part.
thax a lot for u r valuable suggestion.
I am planiong to lift up this bird next satuarday  (:|~will keep u informed about status.
Pl tell me how to post video.
