Title: Help with my Rc Helicopter
Post by: Yu5uf on October 15, 2011, 06:08:46 PM
Hi guys
I am a electronic engineering student from MHS and i m making a project on RC helicopter .
the RC helicopter i have is a very old one and it does not have a swashplate system to fly it (it have simple blades connected to motor hence
making my helicopter fly up and down . I do not have controls if i want to fly my helicopter left and right in the air  )

So i want to  BUY " blades with swashplates" for my rc helicopters which are used to direct the helicopter
Plz guys help me I have come here with many hopes  plz help me with this.

Firstly, welcome to RCI!
Secondly, what do you mean by "blades with swashplates"?
Do you mean you need blades and swash plate? and what type of helicopter do you possess? is it a fixed pitch, or a advanced 6 channel?
Would be good if you could post a picture of your helicopter.

regards,

CF

The Rc helicopter i have is named "air force superior (sky Patron)" made by Shifeng toys
as u can see in the pictures that the wings do not have a swash plate system and because of it we cannot manually take left and right turns. it is just designed to hover in the air and move in the direction of the wind .
this heli is very old near about 5-6 years and my parents bought it from mecca (saudi) i.e it is not from INDIA

the size of the wings is ------ 14 inches or 37 cms
the length of the heli is (from front point to back rotor is) ------ 15 inches or 39 cms
the weight of the helicopter is about 500-800 grms (not sure)

as u can see the base of the helicopter (landing part) is damaged so i might require few parts to make it fly properly

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to use this site and i will totally like to share my experience and technical knowledge with others

Dude!
I don't intend to discourage you, but there is no way that you can put on a swash plate on that heli.
I suppose you will need to read about fixed pitch(FP) and Cyclic Collective Pitch Mixing(CCPM) helis.
There are many threads in this forum that will help you understand this.

the above will give you an idea of what I am trying to say.

Let me know what you got on your mind.

thank you man i didnt knw abt this either i m a engineer from electronics background and my knowledge abt the heli is limited. and ur expertise can guide me in right direction :)

i would like to go for collective pitch as reaction time i want must be fast and i cannot work with delay time.

Then why don't you go for a 450 helicopter itself?
It is a CCPM, but to fly it with confidence you will need these 2 most important things.
1) 6 Channel or higher transmitter
2) Simulator for practicing before you even attempt to fly.

But, I advise you to go through "how to set up" these kinda helicopters first.

Sujju, from RC bazaar has recently uploaded some videos on how to set up 450 helicopters, and they are really educative.
Remember, if you want to go for CCPM helicopters, you go one level at a time and it could be a long journey until you learn to fly.

Alternatively, you could also get yourself a 4 channel helicopter like the Esky Lama, or a Nine eagle solo pro (there are many in the market now) I am currently in office so I am unable to post links, but will try and get links of some 4 channel helicopters for you.

Actually I could have bought a helicopter earlier but i want to make a heli with four channel system . this is my final year project for engineering and it does not stop on just making and flying the helicopter i want to make it fly automatically (i.e that it will fly around the field on its own ) so that is why i am trying to upgrade my heli which i have in hand . so i want to buy the collective pitch blades and swash plate so that i can install it on my helicopter and then using stepper motors i can make the swash plate move.
i know i have a lot of work to do on it before it flys . but once if i get my main rotor systems running then i can concentrate on different problems .
so is it possible to install a collective pitch blade and swash plate controlled by small stepper motors on my heli whose pictures i showed u above .
ur advice will do me a lot of good.
