Title: Hiller 500 from RcBazaar - build help
Post by: srivatsa on June 27, 2012, 03:55:48 PM
hi Guys,

Got the Hiller 500 kit from RcBazaar, started building it. Facing a few road blocks.

I'm trying to install the cyclic servos, Turnigy MG930 from hobbyking. The screws that came with it have a smaller diameter compared to the hole on the heli frame.. How do i fix it?
I have built the 450v2 but that has a plastic piece (plastic nut kind of) so that the screw gets a tight grip on the other side. This one doesn't have anything like that.

I looked up T-rex manual which says use a T2.6X10mm self tapping socket button head screw. But that isn't present in the kit. Can someone tell me how do i install this thing ?

Regards,
Srivatsa

Can't speak for the Hiller version, but for the Align Trex 500, the screws are in the kit, with dual plastic bolts for the screws to latch on to.

Have you double checked the kit contents ?

Hi Folks,

Another issue, need some suggestions. This time with servo arms :banghead:

The arm that have come with the servo (Turnigy 930 MG from hobbyking) are very small for the 500 i think. i'm using the 4th hole (3rd one i guess is short to get the range) on the servo arm. I had to re-bore the holes for the linkage ball to get in (dia of the hole is very small). But its getting so close to the edge that it cracks the servo arm around the edge. (attached pics)

can someone let me know how to manage this. Even if i order better servo arms which one to get? i;m sure someone on the forum would have faced this issue (on hk500 gt / cmt ) earlier and ordered a servo arm.

Thanks and Regards,
Srivatsa

just go for any metal arm for the same size servo from HK, or use the round servo arm. which does not have any holes and you need to make your own using a drill.

Hi,

I'm trying to configure the pitch curves but i am not getting negative pitch at all ??? . Throttle low i get 0° , throttle high i get 15° what should i do??? unfortunately my servos don't centre at all, i need to give max subtrim -118 ~ on both aileron and pitch servos to centre is this fine:( ?

No it's not fine you will lose all travel on the servos, use a differnt servo arm to center it at 50% throttle and not 0 percent on idle up positions only then you will get negetive pitch, then once in normal mode increase the pitch on the radio so that you get only -3degrees of pitch ar 0% throttle.I hope this makes sense

Thanks

yes sir, i got that.. Will try to get good servo arms. I don't know how,  but i started at 50% throttle and tried to center the servo , although i got it centred after huge sub trims when  configuring swash level  i fiddled with endpoints and Sub trims both .. so some goofup happened there i think.. I,ll try again with good servo arms.
