Title: HK 450 bottom gear issue
Post by: hangingtough on March 07, 2010, 07:50:28 AM
Dear friends,

My HK 450 is having a lot of power loss so i was checking the main and tail for some binding.

I have noticed that the bottom gear is not fully secure and moves up and touches the main gear.

If someone has a hk 450 , can you confirm what holds the tail bottom gear from moving up.

i have a picture of only the part which is called the bottom gear.

Kindly help me

I am a little confused as to what you are calling the "bottom" gear.  Is it the gear that is directly below the "main gear"  and NOT the one in the picture ?  Is that the one touching the main gear ?

The gears on the picture you posted should NOT be moving laterally at all.  Remember that the part in the picture is one of the most problematic parts in the HK 450 kit, and we also had trouble with it :

But it does not look like you are having the same problems, so please provide a little more detail on what is moving/touching what.

Anwar, he seems to be facing the famour gear slipping problem.

The bottom gear should not move at all. It is held there by the manufacturing process itself.

BTW, when did you buy your heli? the old ones had these problems, but the recent onces does not have.

hi,
Yes i am awarie of the famous tail gear slipping problem, but this one is not tail gear but the lateral movement. Up and down.
The gear movement is limited by rubbing against the main gear.

Seems like a manufacturing defect on this part. So i applied some CA on the bottom of the shaft and now it seems to fit in well.

This small issue is resolved for now.

thanks
