Title: Main Gear wheel misaligned with Shaft rod - Hiller 450
Post by: ebinmoothedam on August 13, 2012, 04:08:46 PM
Dear All,

I have come across another challenge where the main gear wheel is misaligned with the main shaft rod hole. Please check the below image.

I have learned that the two holes on the either end of the main shaft are placed at a slightly different distance from both the end, and if I am correct, the jesus bolt goes through the smaller one. If you notice the picture, you can see that the distance is more, so believe the factory guys have set up the rotor head on the other end which is supposedly to be going in the main gear wheel ?

I cannot open the main rotor head to check this as I have already stripped the feathering shaft bolt. :banghead: Refer --> [ Stripped FS Bolt  (http://www.rcindia.org/helis/stripped-feathering-shaft-bolt-hiller-450/)]

I am really stuck here with my heli build and I want the experts here to help me on this.  :'(

Thanks,

Ebin

Hi Ebin,

Am not sure if i understand the problem, however i ran into an issue myself and found that i had put the main gear in reverse order, am not sure if it helps. But, the gear has one side flat and one side with a little grove. You may try to flip the gear and see if it helps.

Hey i think i faced similar issue. The hole , nut , the inner hole ( hole on metal part inside the main gear) were out of axis. But i could align it with screw driver and little force.

That did the trick for me ! In fact Sujju sir advised me of the same. The hole on the metal part inside the main gear was out of alingment and you will never "see" that because you are frustrated and blaming the main shaft holes :)

I am not a fan of Finless bob videos and honestly, I believe its nothing more than just reading the Align build manual and visualizing the build. There is no "build" in it. He explains stuffs and keep saying he will be back in a moment and comes back with the assembled stuff ! Thats not a build video according to me.

The best one according to me are those by "Jeff Fassbinder" and our own RcBazaar video. They actually show the "build" procedure.

Its my personal preference.

I like the Finless CCPM setup videos. They are informative and easy to absorb :)
