Title: Mini Vbar cyclic setup on Trex 550 DFC
Post by: nabam on August 12, 2014, 11:19:51 PM
Hi Rotarians.Need your help in setting up my mini Vbar on the Trex 550.It has got a DFC head and am getting too high a value while trying to attain the recommended collective pitch of 12-14 degrees and the cyclical is also way off.To attain 8 degrees, the value on the slider hits as low as 60.The blade links are on the inner hole of the standard align cyclic servo arm.Tried and tried but end up frustrated every single time.Read similar problems on other forums where most of them switched to KDE arms or used shorter servo arms. Can't the Vbar set up with the native align parts, without using third party upgrades? Also,if I use shorter servo arms, the links won't be parallel to the main shaft. What will be it's impact on the flight characteristics?Pls chip in. :headscratch: :help:

one thing u can do is reduce the travel end points and then do the setup ..mechanically u can also try reducing servo linkage distance and adjusting dfc link to get 0 pitch ....if the linkage is not straight n forms an angle to the servo arm is fine but it should not go way beyond like this '/' lol ..if ur getting ur cyclic n collective at 70 also in vbar setup its kinda ok ..i know vbar says cyclic to be kept at 8 degree but u can go 9 -11 no problem ....just reduce the agility later on ...n 14 degree pitch is also fine if u can keep it to 70 in the settings ....c if u can find futaba servo arms for ur align  servos if u want a proper solution :) ...

Nabam - unless you fly hard core 3D you will not need that much collective range neither
will you require extremes of cyclic movement. not having links parallel to main shaft and perp to swash
you will not notice.

no need to take everything in the instructions literally - just set up within comfort range - the vbar
has a trim flight feature - which works wonders in adjusting any minor setup deficiencies.

Thank you Shannon and Saikat for the suggestions.Today i changed the ball links on the servo arms to the shorter ones from the 450L Dominator, and shifted the balls on the swash to the inner hole.now iam getting a collective of about 13.5  with a value of 86 on the software and a cyclic value of 8 with the value on the slider reading 69.is the cyclic value too low?.thinking of a test flight tomorrow...this rain :banghead:Also will check the flight trim feature later.
