Title: Need Help for Align T-rex 700 E F3C
Post by: chkalyan on December 01, 2010, 02:44:42 PM
Hi All,

I am planning to get a Align T-rex 700E F3C combo. Here my doubt is which battery and the radio (tx and rx)system I have to use?

I am planning for  22.2V 5200mAh 6cell 45C.Can anyone suggest me a good charger for this and the best suitable battery for this.I am confused that so many batteries are available 30c-35c-40c and 45c.Which one I have to use.I would be very thank full if you really help me on this. And can you help me in giving the information regarding any local people who can supply?
Can I use KDS Flymentor with this heli?

Regards,
Kalyan.

You will need to run this on 12s, so two 6s batteries in series.  The higher the C, the better... with 25C as a starting point.  Get a 200watt charger, with a high amp power supply, like 15A.

You will need a radio that has 6 channels and supports eCCPM (3 servos at 120deg).

I don't think anyone sells this locally, except may be on order.

The Flymentor should work with any such heli, not sure how well though.

Thanks Anwar Bhai. The super combo comes with servos. And about the Radio I am planning to get a Futaba 10ch.Futaba 10CHG 10Ch 2.4GHz Integrated Heli Tx/Rx Mode 2 .Will it work?

Regarding the battery I think I would go for 22.2V 5200mAh 6cell   30C(150A)2nos or 22.2V 5200mAh 6cell   35C(175A)
2nos
is this ok? Regarding the charger can you give me any particular brand name or model number? for the above battery.

Here is the Link to the Model

The radio is more than enough !

2 batteries would only give you a single flight, before you charge them both !

If ordering from outside, http://helipross.com (http://helipross.com) or http://infinity-hobby.com (http://infinity-hobby.com) are two sites I look at first.

Lavneeth talked about someone having a 700E on their field, he may be able to add more information :

http://www.rcindia.org/rc-general-topics/gurgaon-modelers-in-the-media-times-of-india-main-paper/msg34397/#msg34397 (http://www.rcindia.org/rc-general-topics/gurgaon-modelers-in-the-media-times-of-india-main-paper/msg34397/#msg34397)

That is flybarless (FBL), so it would a slight advantage in terms of flying time compared to the ones with flybar.

The heli discussed above is owned by Roet (http://www.rcindia.org/profile/?u=964 (http://www.rcindia.org/profile/?u=964)).

Remember one thing though, this may not be the right heli to get as the first heli, especially without the help of a local heli flyer.  It is a significant investment, so make sure you have tested the waters before !

Dude, you may want to check with Arvind at rotor.co.in, i think he has that size of Align.

As Anwarbhai said, if this is your first heli, you're putting lots of money at stake, I am right now building a J500 right now and its a pretty big bird, but I can manage the cost of repairs of its crashes as the parts are available and not so costly.

This 700 size bird will cost you a whooping 1 lakh INR, when you'll complete the entire build...

a 700 is very big and powerful and maybe scary and defenetly to fast to fly as a beginner, if u have the cash to fly a big bird as a beginner it is not a bad thing to go big but 700 maight be a bit to big, i would suggest maybe a compass 6hv witch u can find localy or a t-rex 550 .

i bet the 550 is the best option without have flied 1but i had a logo 500 and it was awsome on 6s with 550 blades, stable, powerful and very good hang time and easy to c even from a grate distance , it will not pick up to much speed if set up moderate but it will last u unitil u get pro  and further

Think of those huge batts getting destroyed in a crash? Y not a nitro heli like with 91 sr 3ds etc? You can save pretty much on the batts. Also its tough to charge such big batts in the field. Even though u own 4 such batts, its gets over in 10-12 mins altogether.

I remember anwar saying that he switched from batt to nitro coz batts were expensive. I already feel the pain of the batts for my 500. each one of 3000 mah 6s 40 C costs 47 $, that too beacaus of hobbycity. If i were to buy from an american site, it would have gone upto 200+ $  :P And I could have never dreamt of owning 4 such batteries.

so far i have only damaged 1 battery but it was no need for that if i had protected the battery a bit better.

in a crash u can brake of the exhaust pipe on a nitro so same same

look at the total cost with maintenance, glowplugs, motorbearings and so on and u will find u end up with the same number.

30% nitro not exactly cheap and if u get 200-300 cycles on a bat price is not so bad

These days, nitro and lipos work out pretty much the same.  The big factor is that big lipos have become affordable, and nitro has become expensive.

But the sounds and smoke factor still keeps nitro dear and near to many ;)

550 would be better overall, it seems.

Anwar, This one is a Flybared....

30% nitro not exactly cheap and if u get 200-300 cycles on a bat price is not so bad

Nobody starts flying on 30%, If u r a beginner go for 80-20 syn. blend works gr8.

I have started flying on TT Raptor 30 29BB (550) with '0' upgrade and stock Pro-39 engine w/ muffler & wooden blades with 80-20 Methanol & Castor oil. Hovering n forward flights.

Then i started aerobatics on my new TT Raptor 30, upgrade it with 49BB, Autorotation pully, carbon tail fin set & Carbon main blades & rest all stock including engine n muffler n hand blended 15% nitro with castor oil. for last 1 n half yrs. i m using 30% hand blended with syn. mix.

Flying for 5 years now including 2 brake when i sold my helli & some other reasons with ZERO crash till date.

kalyan, if u r new to rc heli, go for a 30 size nitro heli with no nitro on it. ;D Spares r cheap n readily available all over.

Regards,
Harveer.

Anwar, This one is a Flybared....

Lavneet says clearly it is FBL :

http://www.rcindia.org/rc-general-topics/gurgaon-modelers-in-the-media-times-of-india-main-paper/msg34360/#msg34360

The flybar in the picture seems to be on a heli behind it (probably the 600 in the other picture).

The price diff not much b/w 550 and 600 at Helipross, so i suggested 600.

Check this out....
I was talking about Roet's heli :)

We were having this discussion about flybarless on our field recently, and the people who have used FBL extensively say that the ones with flybar still have the best flying characteristics.  Probably that is why Align released the F3C version with flybar.

Plus people seem to add flybar weights on F3C machines for added stability... yet another reason.

The price diff not much b/w 550 and 600 at Helipross, so i suggested 600.

I started with a 600E, and sold it.  During those days, I wanted to fly 4 or 5 flights every time I went to the field, and batteries were expensive.  The 550 would have an advantage in terms of flight times, I would think.

Santhosh got a newer version of the 600 (the 600ESP) recently, and the flight times in 3D are around 5 minutes.

Just did a search between FBL and F3C versions and came up with this :

http://www.helifreak.com/showpost.php?p=2468565&postcount=9

Looks like FBL is banned for F3C, which I didn't know !

Ya true, 550s are more powerful as well for their weight.
