I came across this video on youtube.. I don't know if this has been posted earlier or not but I was completely pissed off when I saw it..

Follow up news report:

Thankfully aeromodellers all over the world came together to help out the young lady and showed that we take safety really seriously and that a few rotten apples shouldn't spoil the name for all of us..

Now imagine if this happened in India.. What would the Indian media do?? (I'm pretty sure the report would have some shitty title like "maut ke khiloney" etc.. ) Already there are so many restrictions on the hobby in India.. Hope nothing like this ever happens again, here or anywhere..

Feel sad about the accident... & the poor girl in the video. Picture here in India is different.. people using RC heli for big events for flower dropping... over a crowd of people standing this may look cool but i also use to wonder what is the engine fails or any other mechanical failure.... at least i was the one to get scared of these type of stunts people do.

Even in big rc events there are lots of safety rules for both spectators & the competitors. I remember back in TOC (Tournament of Champions) one of the biggest rc aerobatic event the rule says a plane flying facing towards the spectators at any height or position & judges will give you straight "zero" or may be disqualify...

I completely agree with you! Safety standards in RC should be universal.. (unlike hygiene strandards apparently Giggle) No matter how confident you are one can never tell when there may be a electronic/mechanical failure.. People should be more careful when doing these events and also on regular flying days.. It scares me too whenever I see these things.. Remember the post about Sholavaram?

Earnestly! I have a huge open lake bed (Bellundar)  just in front of my balcony, but most of the time when I wake up, I see people playing cricket!

In  one hand I have been haggling for Jakkur Airfield membership, some 30 Km away, for the past one year and there I have a great field beside my apartment which I can use! The very thought of my inexperienced flying hurting some other people holds me to get down the stairs and fly every morning!

Those guys should have excercised some caution before flying out in a public park when people were around.

Just happy that the incident wasn't blown out of proportion by the media unlike ours.

What Aneesh said was absolutely true, they would have called them 'maut ke khiloney'.The awareness is very low among non-R/C people.

Feel sad for the girl though.I am going into rough waters but couldn't she have heard the heli coming from a long way?I am not blaming her but just assessing the possibility of her having heard the heli before it came close.

Raviraj - If there is anything with zero tolerance on this forum, that would be name calling.  Amend your posts to remove that at the earliest.  You seem to have scores to settle, at least use better language to do the same.

If you read my response carefully, you will notice two things.

1) I never said anything about the danger of flying over peoples heads.  It is to be avoided. I only took objection to your language.

2) You joined the forum today, and your first two posts are "targeted".

There has been at least once incident where security steps (jamming of frequencies for Z category security) have caused a heli to fall out of control near spectators.

Well i appreciate your opinions sir,but people who do this must be counselled and educated well on this hobby. They hemselves might claim that they are the best ,but i have seen the best aslo crash ,However it should not be at the cost of peoples lives.Thats all was my opinion abt this.If i meet that person i would tell him face to face.
