Better clean the carb after landing in the dust itself :)

I saw someone hold the tail fin of a JR Vibe 90 hovering just above his head on our field a few days back... living on the edge is a bad idea !

Carrying an old carpet could be a *viable* substitute !

That is definitely a no no, if you like to live long  enough :), bad idea and band example for others, please don't do it, have fun and let others have fun too.

Very very sad indeed. Looks like people here are being callous and not following the safety measures. This is NOT to be taken lightly. Not fun at at all. I am really disappointed after seeing this.

In some ways, it is a test of the confidence of the flyers.  For the take off, the risk is somewhat limited.  For the landing, it only takes a slight off movement of the stick, or gust of wind, or mechanical/radio glitch to cause grief for a long time.  A heli is never worth the risk involved.

Though there was no accident here, I think this video/action here is a contender for this thread :
Most Dangerous Heli videos . http://helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=149589
Note that there are some much much more madness videos here.

According to someone close to the affair, this was done by someone who has lots of years of experience, and only because of the situation.  It was mentioned that the field was lifting up so much dust that it would make it difficult to see the heli, plus the risk of damaging something on the heli, either which would put others at risk.  This was not done to show off, or prove anything.

In any case, as everyone including the people involved clearly realize, this is not something to be made an example of.  Viable alternatives (run the car up and down the landing pad a few times to help the dust settle, carry an old carpet or large board, landing using autorotations to minimise dust etc) are always the way to go.

Regarding the link Gaurav posted, I once saw a video (I believe from Russia) where someone caught a Trex 600 electric heli (50 size) mid-flight when he hovered it indoors and it came right at him.  He escaped with minimal scars on the hands, but that was the worst I have seen so far.  Can't seen to find the link anymore, will look again.

Yeah that was crazy. And did you see the one where This guy tied razor blades at the edge of his 450 heli blades and were trying to cut off shoes tied off an electric line ?

Haha, Ya I saw all of them today, but the one where they hovered a Raptor 90 inside the hall was really SOLID, so was the 90 size heli explode  ;)

Thats really bad. Big RC vehicles should be banned in parks where there are people around.
