Trex 450 DFC

I have seen many 450 kits being bought and sold immediately - especially in the past couple of months

Whats the reason you guys selling it?

1. Cost - More than anticipated
2. Too Complex to Setup
3. Difficult to Fly
4. Poor Quality parts
5. Unresolved Flight Problems - Tail wag/blade tracking/drift etc
6. Other

Hi Raja_Mastana appreciate your concern, but at times people loose hope and dont want a few more holes in the pocket. So i think it's better to escape.
However if proper guidance is provided i think the thing can be reduced. And even you will except heli 's are no joke and are way to difficult to fly compared to a plane.

Perfect Landing

One thing for sure is, there are very good people who can help or guide for setting up helis, but connecting with them is the biggest problem. In My case, paladugu_sujith is a very good techie guy in hyderabad in setting up helis, but i need to travel 50 kms (up and down) to reach him. That is one of the main reason, i stopped flying helis in the initial phase itself and moved to planes and having nice time with them and continuing so on. For the initial phase for a beginner one must need some level of guidance or help.

Ya Shannon that's true - setup is complex.
But then, we have a solution to it -  Finless Bob's videos. These will greatly help in understanding complex things like CCPM

Bhavesh
Not questioning your judgement of selling the kit at all. Its absolutely your choice. I started the thread just to understand the reason for so many FS heli threads.
I (and almost everyone) have been though this
I saw some youtube videos on RC helicopters and purchased a CCPM bird without any background on RC! On getting it I released how complex these things are. I kept it aside and bought a 4 channel FP and went from there.

So my learning has been
Not to start with CCPM directly, a 4 ch Fixed Pitch is better choice (learn, fly, master it)
Watch Bob's videos (many times)
Then start building a 450 CCPM brick by brick

+1 to hellyflyer
I think..... today people want "jhatpat maza" instead of build serious & complex machine, They loose their hops Because these kind of machine take lots of time to build & setup to airborne....

I started with a Syma coaxial, then Colco coaxial (long Dead), then king 2 (sold), then belt cp v2 (sold), got a trex 450se v2 which i still fly...

Meanwhile, i had built two HK 450s...Important Lessons learnt..

Flying a converted Raptor 50 v2 for 6 or 7 months..Its an old machine...But, i love it...

Point is, helis do have part failures, sometimes problem with electronics..Trick is not to give up so easily...I have made good friends here who are always willing to help...N when things go wrong, we all use our brains and dig right thru the problem and overcome it...

So, keep trying..n ur machine will fly

Dear,

I think making circuits and learning few of the tricks on plane is easy...But, learning to fly a plane in a controlled manner and mastering all the tricks is again a lot of hard work....

I have had so many part failures that i lost count (I am not a rich fellow for sure, there were times when i waited for 4 to 5 months to again order stuff)...

Neways its ur call

Raja: while some are quitting, some are entering Smiley  Am one of them.

While am building my 20cc profile 3d, I ordered a HK 450gt pro for a change. Been flying my scratch built spad quad and now I wish to try out the single rotor thing Wink . The truth is, RC helis were what drew me to RC itself 1.5 yrs before. Being in KSA, lack of availability and resources, I switched to scratch built planes to get started. Now am back to what inspired me int the first place. And with such good help around here, I dont think there is much to worry! Smiley

RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

I attended a DSLR class a while back, and one of the things the instructor said was that most people buy two tripods.  The reason they buy two is because the first one they buy based on price (cheaper), and they soon realize it cannot do its job, and spend more on a long term one.

Something like that must be part of the reason why many helis are on sale... I have seen it happen again and again Wink

Absolutely - buy cheap, then pay twice.

Clones are definitely attractive because of their price. I mean why would anyone buy a 25,000 kit when a seemingly similar one is available for 4,000-5,000. But, it comes with its own set of problems. Even the most simplest parts like ball links or tail pitch linkages matter. The clone ones usually bind and cause unusual behavior.

Another thing is tools. We need good set of tools to make the build/setup process smoother. For e.g. Digital pitch gauges saves a lot of time and frustration. They are more accurate and gets the gob done faster.

Good set of hex tools (and a variety like allen key/screwdriver types) is also helpful since some screws are difficult to reach by screwdriver types.

Thanks raja and doctor Smiley

I decided to start with a clone ( like I started with scratch built planes) for learning purpose only. I completely agree with you guys and thank you for reminding me of those things.  I have already ordered spares for all the easily breaking items along with the heli. I even took some items from Sujju's shop while I was there for a short visit to India a month ago. Once am past the initial crashes  Giggle and if still persist, then I will certainly think about upgrading the parts. Once again thanks!
