Title: Where can I get 450 heli kits? Post by: Harish Nagisetty on April 14, 2017, 05:20:04 PM I practiced on a sim for a while and I have flown a micro heli for some time - though I don't have my own.
After reading and watching a lot of vids. about the build process, I really want to do it on my own. Now, I have a new problem. I cannot find any reasonably priced 450s in India. RcBazaar just went out of stock. Can you suggest an option I can look into? I would like to know if this clone kit is a good choice, and whether I would face difficulty getting it past customs. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/RC-remote-6ch-3D-Helicopter-450-SE-pro-6ch-Kit-carbon-fiber-for-align-trex-heli/32733779042.html?spm=2114.40010708.4.7.jT4oZS (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/RC-remote-6ch-3D-Helicopter-450-SE-pro-6ch-Kit-carbon-fiber-for-align-trex-heli/32733779042.html?spm=2114.40010708.4.7.jT4oZS) Title: Re: Where can I get 450 heli kits? Post by: Hellyflyer on April 14, 2017, 07:44:31 PM Hi Harish,
First you need to decide if you want to go fly-barred or flybarless head (Flybar is the extra rod with paddles on Heli Head used for stablization) , that will change the price of the kit and will also require a Flybarless Gyro system for stabilization. Align or its clone are the best choices available in 450 size due to availability of parts. I am not sure of the quality of Aliexpress. But this is a flybarred kit and looks like metal head, you may have to do some hard work to add some smoothness to it. There is no canopy so I am not sure how important is that to you. Customs Clearance - Kit comes in a small box and it should not be a problem getting through customs, just don't order any electronics with it. try to get electronics locally or place separate orders for each item. Happy Building...feels good to be back :-) Title: Re: Where can I get 450 heli kits? Post by: Harish Nagisetty on April 14, 2017, 08:52:37 PM Hi Helly,
I have been reading about helis for almost 6 years now. So I have all the "theoretical" knowledge required. However, I don't know enough to make all the right choices yet. At the moment, I feel flybarred may be best for me. This is because, I don't have a fbl controller, and I don't think I want to mess with the setup. Please tell me if you think fbl will be a better choice. Canopy is not important. Besides, rcbazaar sells them too. Before ordering, I would like to know if there are any places in India that sell similar products. Thanks, Harish. Title: Re: Where can I get 450 heli kits? I would recommend checking the RCIndia Gems section for a list of LHS to see if they have Heli Kits. Title: Re: Where can I get 450 heli kits? Post by: sbajare on April 14, 2017, 11:02:46 PM hi,
