Title: which is better RTF or self assembled Heli? Post by: asinghatiya on December 22, 2010, 10:34:46 AM Hi friends, I am struggling with an RTF Belt CP V2. My fist RTF (& Heli too).
•First so much pain in getting it cleared from Customs. •Pay premium on the total cost (to Postal dept.) •Then I found that battery was faulty (one cell soldered with wrong polarity so dead) •Then just after first flight I found my motor is not running, no wonders ESC burnt. Give me a break yaar, had I spent this much on a self assembled one I would have ended up with a much better heli with lot of spares and lot of learning about Heli systems. (I followed a youtube video to learn its assembly and spares) :) What you guys think for beginner a RTF or assembled one, which is a better option ? Let's re-evaluate what you said... beginner??? go for RTF :) It was probably your bad luck... I prefer DIY stuff and that's why I got the kit and not RTF. For sure lots of learning, but have a heart to face challenges as well along the way. As someone said... So, I suggest what I did. buy a kit and assemble it. use sim to learn than RTFs or 3 channel craps! Title: Re: which is better RTF or self assembled Heli? Post by: anwar on December 23, 2010, 02:00:11 AM If I were to start today, knowing what I know now (ie, after learning from all the wonderful people here), I would either build a foam electric plane, or I will build a 450 size heli from a kit. THAT is what I would do, as I am serious about long term participation in this hobby. I will also buy a 7 channel radio, if I can afford it.

Post by: asinghatiya on December 23, 2010, 06:59:04 AM Wow Anwar, very right, me too now building my foam plane. ;D . after struggling and spending so much on engines and RTF's I found that foam built it best. Our purpose is flying and feeling the joy of flying.

I would be the first person to jump on Vikas's deal :) unfortunately, now till I learn everything about a 6 channel heli flying, I have no motivation to buy one more.... |
