I'm new to India, I'm new to the RC world and also new to Helis, that make it X3
Crazy thing, I bought a rs1000 3.5 channel indoor heli at Big Bazar one day when I was getting some food. It just died I have been hooked since I got it.I have been flying this around my house for almost 2 months I must have an easy 100 hrs, I had to resurface the leading edge of the rotors from crashing in the beginning.
I want to upgrade to an outdoor heli, staying with the electric for now. This is what I am looking at for my first real heli
http://www.rcbazaar.com/products/887-msh-protos-with-motor-and-sab-blades.aspx

I know I will need alot of other components to go with this kit. Please give me any suggestions, comments etc you may have. As I read more on this hobby I find myself with helis that have tail rotors with belt drive, torque tube, rear motors etc. I just want to fly, no stunts, no 3D stuff, but I want to be able to continue to upgrade the heli.
Thanks

hey cary i see u have posted a link for the Msh protos it is a 500 size heli and not to mention a great performer ........well what i suggest is that u go in for the 450 sport v3 http://rcbazaar.com/products/672-hiller-450-sport-v3.aspx ......am not saying the msh is not good but jumping from a 3.5ch to a collective 6 channel is not a good idea .....the crash cost on such a big heli is alot ....where as in the 450 is not that much .......plus with a 450 u can go cheap on electronics as u are learning n for a 450 size its fine ....but u cant go cheap on electronics with anything bigger than a 450 size helicopter .....its size will tell u y i own both even own a 300 size fixed pitch ...well there is a vast difference between the 3.5channel heli u have been flying and the 500 size 6 channel collective pitch ...i suggest u buy a 450 sport for and also buy a simulator to learn as flying a 3.5ch is easy .......but flying any 6 channel heli is complicated in the start but fun when u have mastered it ........so here is wat u need to do buy a simulator ,buy a good transmitter like spectrum or futaba i suggest spectrum ,get a 450 size heli to learn on keep the electronics cheap .........but the most important thing is practicing on the simulator before u even think of spooling up a 450 size or any 6 channel heli ....n on buying any heli its better if u do the builds cause  u learn alot in the process there are lot of videos on how to build or setup helis .....spectrum dx7s or dx8 are very good tx .........and there r 6-8 important lessons u have to master before u can completely fly a 450 size or above so u need a simulator or crashing it in learning process will just get u irritated .......the difference between a belt and torqu tube heli is a matter of preference a torque tube tail has gears so in a crash gears may strip along with tail blades and tail shaft breaking and bending  ,even if the blades just touch the ground it may stripp so u have to replace them, belt tails are more forgiving in a crash ....rear and front motors is just placement preference n design of the model nthng to do with performance , hope i helped u n not confused u ..........

Thanks Shannon,
I have read a fair bit since I posted that, first I started to look at the cost of spares after the original purchase, you are so right. I just received an avatar GT8008 4 channel from Amit, after only 30 min flying in the house I can see it is a step change for me. But I can tell I'm hooked.
Where would I find a simulator? I can see this will be a necessary learning tool.

hi u can get a usb dongle from rcbazaar or any other websites ....i recommend phoenix sim for heli flying it comes very close to real flying than realflight ....most of all, if u want to go far into this hobby u need a good radio buying a cheap one will only work n be safe till a 450 size ...get a spectrum tx its cheap ,heli friendly and easy to use than futaba .....a dx7s or dx8 preferred ...if low on budget a dx6i is a very good tx
