Built in Brass

Hello Everyone,
I will be beginning a new project, a batch of 5 East Board Top or EBT Steel box cars in 1:20.3 scale.
EBT used to be one of the many 3 feet gauge American NG Railways that operated in the early part of the 20th century, and had in my opinion pieces of motive power and rolling stock unseen or unheard of elsewhere on other NG lines. One of the most amazing preserved railways in the world today!

Their webiste is http://www.ebtrr.com/

The EBT box car would have the following features:

Link to the actual prototype photo
http://www.ebtrr.com/pics/l-myers/ebt_912.jpg

-all brass & stainless steel construction
-actual copper rivets to emulate actual rivet work
-use of scale "Z" angles to reinforce the body shell as in prototype
-use of cast/machined brass fittings like handrails, brake rigging, bogie side frames, foot boards, hinges & latches, walk ways etc
-photo-etched body overlays in brass
-g1mra standard stainless steel insulated scale wheels
-sprung axle boxes & prototypical couplers
-dimensions L=525mm; H=150mm; w=110mm; weight 4.5 kilos (max)

Cut and formed the chassis from 1.5mm thick brass sheet. All the joints would be silver soldered for rigidity later.
Marked and cut out the blanks for the "Z" angles, formed them on the press brake. The Angles are 4mm X 4mm X 4mm in width.

Had the box side and ends marked and cut and the base "L" angles formed. Diemensions 10mm X 15mm, these would retain the sides and ends to the chassis.

Marked and Soldered the "Z" angles on the body sides of the box car.
Then marked out the rivet holes on the sides of the angles and had them 1.6mm dia drilled for the rivets to be soldered in place.
