Title: Electric Free Flier RTF for 10 Second
Post by: KALYANPRODHAN on December 28, 2019, 03:00:47 AM
Hi,
Got from Amazon and the details are here below.

I initially ordered super-capacitor and similar RTF, but not received the super capacitor yet though shipped on 8th Dec. and today is 27th. I got the foam RTF earlier on 13th. Surprisingly found that, instead of super capacitor, it uses Lithium battery with charging circuit along with timer and push button. Charges through micro usb port. So you can use power bank for maidan charging.

You also get 10-20 times of flight of 10 second each, after charging it fully. It will be better to charge at low current as 500mA max.

Very fun for newbies as the glider is ultra balastic as the battery is between two wing of biplane wing.
The model is little tail heavy, and so glide is not good, but overcomes by power flight pusher due to motor mount at top giving balancing thrust.

An easy cheap charger of 300mA (SMPS Based) is given in link below for step down to 5 volt
It is consisting only two transistor, one zener diode, one schottky diode, 3 capacitor, 3 resistor, and one inductor.
The transistors you may use cheap BC548B (NPN) and BC 558B(PNP). (Rs 1 -2 each)
1A Schottky diode D1 is 1N5819 =>Rs.3/- to 5/-
5.6 Volt Zener diode (1/4 watt or more). (Rs.1 - 3/-)
c1=2nF , c2=6.8nf (high voltage not required, cheap one will sufficient) Use (1:3 to 1:5 ratio, if perfect value not found)
All Resistances are 1/8 watt or higher. (Rz=8k2, R1=470, R2=2k7,
You can use this as car charger too.. but for 300mA maxium)

L1 = 470uH inductor. Ferrite core is better.
For Air core inductor
http://colomar.com/Shavano/inductor_info.html
Just type .470 into the inductor value (.470mH's = 470uH's)

Good work, Kalyanji ! Some simple suggestions to improve performance:
1. Try to widen the turn. The plane is turning too tightly. You can use rudder, or side thrust. When you do this, make sure the wing on the inside of the turn does not drop. To ensure this, make a small flap on the inside wing.
2. Try to drive a larger propeller, which will be slower. When you use a larger propeller, reduce the pitch.
3. Build a larger, but lighter plane.
