Title: Help required on rubber powered guillow kit
Post by: nandannansi on May 22, 2012, 05:48:16 PM
Hi guys,

I have just bought a dhc chipmunk  from rcbazaar a few days back, I am confused on how to cover it, as the traditional way is using dope and tissue, generally for electric rc I use plastic gift wrapping paper and fevibond to stick it.
The tissue provided in the kit does not give a scale look, but if i use the plastic will the airplane fly?

The Airplane should fly provided the plastic covering is stiff enough.
All the best for your Build

It will come out very heavy if you use mylar gift wrap - By the way how
will the gift wrapping make it look scale ?

It will look like a flying present ...

or is this some other material ?

In the very near future, this flying present, will go soaring past his window..............

Jokes apart, I'm sure he will use the mylar wrap with the metallic surface outside (and the printed surface inside). That will definitely look more scale.

Hi Saikat,

I was planning to use the silver side of the my mylar paper to give it metallic steel look. Could you suggest what else can be used or should I stick to tissue paper method?

search for a method called tissue over mylar

it is a bit tiresome to apply - but the results are worth it.

Hi Guys,

I did a lot of google search, and for a rubber powered airplane tissue would be the only option.

Jatayu- I checked Vikrams PT-17, its a master peice. To keep the scale apeal, I am planning it color it yellow, somewhat like the one in the below link.
