Title: make an ORNITHOPER in TEA TIME..
Post by: roopeshkrishna on August 10, 2011, 12:02:32 AM
Friends..Colleagues..
a real way to get excited is, refueling the tank, or recharging the battery pack, and run to the maidaan, before 5.30 AM, and fly in a manner of scream...flat..emmelman..knife edge..s roll..falling leaves...
or, fill the tank, or charge the battery pack, look for a good time to get shades..and release craft in to water..and enjoy the sheer natural show offs of the crafts...
but nothing is going on as the heavy rain is going on..out side..
so its the time to think about some thing indoor..so, i decided..and made an ornithoper within 30 minutes..all with handy things around me..even i wondered as i finished it..

How did you manage to rotate this Ornithoper in such small circles inside the house? How did you control this?
Your Radios are well maintained! saw them in the background. Also the engine on the table . do you intend to make a boat of it? That would be intersting.
Did you try your Futaba for a submarine application.

Rooster..i shifted the driving arm, of the port side, and displaced battery in to port side..tail also bended a little..and no any critical calculations..at first it worked too erratically..but i balanced it with battery..and added one more pin at centre, and at front cross bar..and by tomorrow, i will make it even better, for a good flight...

Pratheesh..i got an accident..cant walk freely...its ok..

Friends..its nothing..and not a perfect machine..and all you can see the steps from my postings..and i will make it better by working on it..and will fix a radio, from a little heli, so i can avoid crashing it on walls...and now i am in a little trouble, that its not flying in a straight line.. :giggle:..and we do not need any plan as you can see, now just need some practical experience..all you can see none of my models are from plan, and from my imagination..except the scaled crafts.

When it is flown without RC, then definitly will have a better control & result with RC.

Rooster..dont panic..none of my work is a claim..but i am studying a lots from my modeling works..my first ornithoper was in 1989, in my academic years..and was powered by a simple rubber band..it flown well..but the vicinity was the Gymnastic stadium at Thalassery..but now think about our convenience in modeling..so, at present i am working on a new ornithoper, big, and fully radio controlled..so, i am studying a lots on it..and i am too thankful to Sushil Sir, for the link..and thank you all for the inspiration to make even better one..and thanks for taking inspiration from me..its a great award for my birth..and will post a good video, after clearing all technical problems..it was a crude machine, and was flying only in circles..but giving up is not my option...wait a little..please..we must make it..

Adithya..dedication and patience are the key of model making..i learned it from my GURU, Sreedharan Sir, NCC Instructor, and it was a stearn training..no give ups..now you can see how simple is to design a machine..try to make ample of various crafts..

Sushil Sir..a million thanks once again for the links..and please ask me any help that i can do for you..its a pleasure...

Well, I don’t think any wrong there; Roopesh has already mentioned it as non-rc version.
While testing it crashed and yet to build a new one with rc. These things happen / usual while undergoing these experiments.
And also I will feel proud if I build an Ornithoper even a hanging one.

friends..and Colleagues..instead of making fun..can anyone advice me to rectify this problem once..?
because i have to make this fly in to a correct and perfect one..a straight flying one...i tried with altering the tail plane..attitude..but still persists..
please give me any advice about this phenomena..but i never give up..this is the time to think about Write Brother's history..success at last..after hard efforts...

Drop (several full stop)... and write complete sentence insted of SMS type.

It's rule of this forum.

In all ornithopter forum or post it is clearly written that the flight control is made by tail control like rudder and elevator. Some turnings may be adjusted with back of wing center shifting. Actually it control the pitch of the wing during movement I think and creates differential thrust. Just search RC Ornithopter in youtube and you will get lots of stuff.

In RC, it's easy to adjust CG but make it a rubber powered and you will realize the adjustment process. Extra will be Torque and time/duration to be take care off.
