We have our showroom in madurai. All the models are available in our showroom. We are the manufacturers and exporters of industrial paints and Model Railroad is my Hobby. Now it turned as a profession and we would like to cultivate this hobby make reachable for all people at affordable price.

As mentioned earlier, I have always been fascinated by model trains. Victory Hobbies was very nice in discusising and point out the necessary details a beginner must know.
Took the plunge and got a moderately priced Bachmann Train set.  They shipped quickly, and it reached me within a week.

Oliver - Must have missed your query, so sorry for the late reply. Try and get hold of clear lacquer / varnish. Should be available at good hardware stores or artist's supply shops. Either stain it with blue dye and pour it to set over an indentation (to resemble a pond or lake) on the layout. Alternately, you can paint the bottom of the lake or pond hollow light blue and pour in the clear varnish to set. If you so wish, you can (carefully, very carefully) create ripples or waves on it as it sets.

Nice to know about a sale outlet in south India.  I was in fact looking for it for quite some time.
I have a Fleischmann HO starter set 6395 which runs on DC thru MSF Trafo 6735.
