Title: My MIG-29 (static model)
Post by: rajathv8 on October 31, 2010, 02:28:36 PM
Hey guys,

Iv built up a mig-29 and spent quite some time painting it. Its a static model as the thermocol i used is very weak fragile and low density. My tenant had shipped some household appliances from pune and i decided to put the thermocol to use instead of throwing it away.

Il let the pics do the talking :)

Part 1: Plan and cutting sections.

Part 5: Final assembly, glueing, touchup paintwork and detailing. My books helped a lot. :) I would suggest Computer Communication Networks By. Fuorouzen. Nice and heavy :D :D :D

All paint work was done using fabric paints with a paint brush - no spray paint.

PS: 22 images take only 1.9 MB of space. Appropriate resizing can help us and keep our server happy :)

Thankyou guys :) :)  Had to do quite a lot to keep the thermocol balls in check. The entire periphery is taped and painted over the tape. :)

hey bud nice model... I like it. I know thermocoal is not flyable alone as its very delicate.. I would use a very light weight celo tape everywhere to give it strength. You remember the way I did on the piper's wing. transparent wide tape should be good to give it strength and make it little heavy as well. An EDF in the back will give it enough power to cut through skies... lets meet sometime, this weekend was hectic :(

PS. I saw colored celo tapes in vignan nagar.. I will post the review of them soon as I get them tomorrow.

Yeah i read several reviews. Some have issues with the usb cable heating up and burning though. Hope that doesn happen. :) I also checked with a hk6ch user and he was happy with his set so went ahead. Buying it from praveen so no customs problem. Il post up a review once i get it. Will be buying servos and stuff next month or so - sim time till then. :)

Yeah the controller in the cable is very sensitive and is not fine with even slight voltages above 5. It happened to two or three.

Really nice build and a great paint job. Whenever i try to work with thermocole, my room becomes absolutely messy with thermocole balls all around :banghead:.

There is a simple way to get rid of thermocol balls. I used the orange cloth (soft one),to develop static, then the thermocol balls stick to it. Very Easy to clean.

No i ordered it from praveen- its mentioned in reply #28 (see Anwar ji i used the reply number feature :D :D)

Thanks shreedhar :)

Rubbed it well to develop static, then the balls stick to it. Very Easy to clean.
