RC India - Flying and racing with open minds !

Wow.  Did not come across these before.

Looks like more fun than driving cars, since you have to do the balancing of the bikes yourselves ?  Even 3 wheels would make it stable enough to take the extra fun away !

Anyone here have come across these ?

I saw someone running duratrax dx450 at local track. It takes some practice to make them go, but its fun.

How is that these things balance on their own. Despite a fall the bike is on its two wheels again. Whats it that makes it regain its balance.

Looks like the two rods on either sides prevents it from fully falling down on their sides (and rendering them immobile).  So once they gain even a bit of speed again (while still resting/dragging on these rods), the driver is able to apply movement/deflection to the front wheel to bring it back into balance.

The dx450 has a mechanical gyro in it which make is so stable. Its developed just a way, that you don't need a marshal during the race. If they fall, just give it bit gas, and it will getup and go.
Rest all is about keep the momentum going!!!

hi guys
I have a cheapy one,
even those are good but only run on road or paved areas, a ducati about 8 ins long, does about 10mph but even then you have to slow down for cornering they usualy have a 'defender' that along with the 'COG' keeps the wheels on the ground at a crsh then just throttleup and it gains enought speed in a 'circle' to upright its self and away you go again, about 10+ mins on a 4v battery check out ebay they are about £30 unless you want mega buks then you looking at £300 for gas.
 the one I have

the market

the one in first video is about same size as the venom
and yes 'much' more fun than cars.:-)

I know this is a very old thread, but thought this discussion would add more information to the thread and everything would be available in the same place. Hope mods are ok with it.  Wink

Now the Query:

I wanted to know if anyone in India has a RC Motorcycle.

One of my friend is interested in buying one, but does not know of availability and cost in India.

Is it worth getting one?  Huh? Should I try and divert him to a buggy or tuggy?  Giggle

Can anybody shed more light on this?

The stores I have so far come across that have a motorcycle for sale are:
1) Rotor.co.in - Thunder Tiger Ducati
2) Rcskyhobby -Thunder Tiger 999
3) Rcdhamaka - Anderson M5

More Options abroad are:
1) Venom VMX 450
2) Duratrax DX450

Thanks

If he wants a RC bike then an RC bike is what he should get Smiley
The only issue i see is lack of opportunity to race as there is no race class for it in India (as far as i know). If he is interested in racing a buggy would be better , in my opinion.
Also check for spares availability in India (or abroad if he is comfortable with sourcing parts from abroad)  before deciding which bike to get Smiley

Mugen Seiki Rules

Rcdhamaka.com has the bikes. Too expensive to attract my attention. But the price is good considering the international cost of the bikes. Same as Duratrax, but branded Anderson, the OE company.

I am sure no one is currently looking at racing rc bikes in India. It is purely for bashing.

The VMX 450 from Venom looks the best of the lot, but it is not available in India.  Bang Head Importing it is going overboard.

@Ajo: You definitely are the database for anything in RC  Thumbs Up Bow

Also, the price difference from an import (with shipping and no customs) to what is quoted by rcdhamaka is about 5k INR. So, it might be fair to import one and pay the customs which I am expecting to be less than 5k.

Karthik9, know this is an old thread and sorry to divulge from dirt bikes, but since you asked about anyone owning one, I have a duratrax DXR 500 on road bike and I love it. It is based off of the Anderson Racing model you see in RC Dhamaka. A big enough parking lot or a basket ball court gives you enough room to start.

If there is a space constraint, you may wanna look at the Venom VMX 450 dirt bike in ebay. I have often seen sellers who do international shipping, here's a sample listing(don't think this guy does international though)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Venom-1-4-VMX-450-Dirtbike-Brushless-2-4GHz-RTR-Red-/171026404138?pt=US_Radio_Control_Control_Line&hash=item27d1f7d32a

Btw, here's a pic of my DXR 500

....since you asked about anyone owning one, I have a duratrax DXR 500

Although the DXR500 has been around a while, it seems that much of the RC community hasn't noticed it, yet.  In the US it is being stocked by some high profile RC vendors, so I expect that its popularity will grow.  In my area, there are five DXRs running.  We meet at parking lots and school yards when they are empty and do some casual competition around cone markers.  Because many of the lots are not very large, it is essential that the bikes have good slow-speed handling.  As sold, the DXR has the steel gyro flywheel without the weights used by the offroad DX450 version.  To improve stability on the small lots, we've added five weights which makes a noticeable improvement.  A heavier gyro widens the turn radius at high speeds, but going slower it prevents wheel flop and makes an obstacle course around multiple cones possible.  We have also replaced the original 13-tooth motor pinion with the 11-tooth optional gear.  On a shorter course, that allows the motor to spin up faster for better acceleration while keeping the top speed manageable.

I cannot stress enough how much fun these Anderson bikes are.  Because of the gyro, on a dusty or damp asphalt surface the bikes can do spectacular throttle-controlled drifts through the corners.  This, with NiMh batteries!  A non-gyro SB5 on the same course will fall and tumble.  One of the group switched to LiPo and the power increased considerably.  In fact, his bike is now quite easily wheelied and provides much entertainment because they don't always have a planned result.  Wink
