Title: Rc Kites build Post by: Subir on March 19, 2012, 11:42:58 PM After seeing the beautiful rc kites at www.goflykite.com of singapore and videos of night flying
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GX9RTPwIkG8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo-1ZW5AAbc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wa2RCygCDPk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOmIhApnO-s I very much wanted to purchase one. But the price was almost 410SGD plus shipping was too much to pay for a kite. While going through the site i decided to build the kite on my own the frame is the result of that it just needs to be covered with material out of which umberella's are made. It is a delta wing kite flying on elevons. Regards Subir Title: Re: Rc Kites build Post by: roopeshkrishna on March 20, 2012, 12:07:18 AM nice..nice.. {:)} {:)} {:)}

Title: Re: Rc Kites build Post by: SunLikeStar on March 20, 2012, 09:54:08 AM Super!! What size CF rods are they, looks like 2mm :-\ it would be very helpful if you can post close-up of joints. PFA image
Title: Re: Rc Kites build Post by: Subir on March 20, 2012, 10:17:52 AM The CF rods are all 1.5mm as i had those lying around to make pushrods for my foamies the joints are just thread with CA
the hinges for the elevator are again CF rod with 3mmOD and 2mm ID. i have used 3mm rod in the moddle to give it strength and avoid flex the power will be provided by Turnigy 2730 Brushless Motor 1500kv with 7060 Prop http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8618 and the Esc will be TURNIGY Plush 12amp (2A BEC)BESC http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__2161__TURNIGY_Plush_12amp_2A_BEC_BESC.html with 2 HXT900 Servos and 3S 1000mah battery i was give a idea by friend to use Aquarium airpipe connectors to make the frame they have an ID of 3MM will try it for my next big kite Subir Title: Re: Rc Kites build Post by: Subir on March 20, 2012, 08:24:56 PM Hi Guys
Found out the Aquarium airpipe connectors they fit the 3MM CF rod perfectly, so no more thread and CA for fixing the joints you get three types the T shape the L shape and the Cross, looking forward to seeing more Rc Kite builds.
