Try this,

Connect internet in your system and then start Lazy zero in online mode.
then select the USB asp type and then your board type as KK 2.1. then it will  show the list of available firmwares for the board after searching for sometime online. this is best way than searching for firmware manually.

As v2eagle said, use Lazy Zero and select KK2.1
I have personally used 1.9 and it is very good, the self level is much more stable than 1.5 or 1.6.

As mentioned in the first page "Stevis Firmware> 1.17S1 as of 4/11/14" is the latest stable version
and 1.9 is an older version than the above firmware.

Well I have messed up with me mixer editor settings can any1 post it here.? When I upgraded to 1.9 mixer editor settings were haphazard and I didn't knew previous default settings and as a result I was not having good flight, the Quadcopter was not stable it was drifting always...

Actually it should be 1.09, so 1.17 would become the latest one numerically. The latest stable version is recommended for user of any level. And kk 2.xx are the most beginner friendly FC's you can find other than Naza I guess. As I said earlier read more and read manual, will help you a lot in the longer run.

And no natively KK 2.1 doesnt have altitude hold, but some ppl are trying it using multiwii firmware, but its still in beta testing and definitely not something for a beginner to try as of now.

And just reset the board to get default settings back, moreover it wont matter if you upgrade the firmware to 1.17 as it would have its own default settings.

Was not stable meaning it was very less sensitive to my stick,
For example : my quad was flying in front direction to counter it I had my stick position extreme back but still the quad was not responding properly to get back.. Can any1 explain what's the reason behind this.? Mixer editor problem or something else. I have sk450 frame so any pre defined settings for this frame.??

Also,  do not use the old settings because the meaning of the numbers is changed with new firmware versions. On previous version my stick scaling was at 45. On 1.9 I got the same sensitivity at stick scaling 20

That means I have to increase stick scaling slightly to get my quad behave properly.. No need to interfere with mixer editor....
