Title: [Help] Motors jitter or don't function when on propellors
Post by: omk on February 12, 2017, 02:01:53 PM
I'm building my first DIY drone and I'm facing a weird issue with my DIY multi-rotor. Details below:

Frame: S500
Motors: 4
Motor spec: 850KV
ESC: 30Amp
Controller: Openpilot CC3D

I'm using a RCB 7x receiver.

Issue:
When controller from librepilot or from transmitter without propellors all 4 motors work just fine. When I add propellers, only 3 motors rotate.

I tried adding propellers and tilting the drone, in which case only the motor that is at the lower end of the tilt rotates. The weirdest part is that this behavior is only when there are propellers on the motors. Am I missing something?

Can you send some pics with your propellors mounted>

I have made a diy F450 drone with 1000kv motors and simonk ESC 30 a. But after one crash one motor was not rotating .I mounted off the propellers then it started rotating.
I suppose that either your motor have loose connections or are damaged.

Hello omk,

If you are still facing the problem,

tilting the drone, in which case only the motor that is at the lower end of the tilt rotates. The weirdest part is that this behavior is only when there are propellers on the motors. Am I missing something?

This is the expected behavior. If all the motors rotate properly when controlled from LibrePilot software, motors may be probably fine.

Try:
Remove all the propellers, give a small amount of throttle only(no roll, pitch or yaw) from transmitter, tilt down a particular motor arm, check if the dipped motor rotates. The motor which is dipped more than the others must gain speed continuously. If not, check the motor numbering as per LibrePilot and as per the flight controller. Throttle down and repeat this for all the 4 motors to verify.
