The first set of components I ordered for my very first quad build arrived yesterday in the post. I have received the following:

Q450 frame with built in PCB
Turnigy Plush 30A ESC
Turnigy Aerodrive D2830/11 1000 KV motors
Bullet connectors
Arduino Uno board with 10-6 adapter
USBAsp programmer
Turnigy ESC programming card
Propellers

The FC, Rx/Tx are in the next shipment which is still in Singapore. I wanted to start the build and get some ground work done. So, I went ahead and soldered bullet connectors to the ESCs. Drilling holes to a scrap board to hold the connectors while soldering is a really neat idea and helped immensely. Once that was done, I wanted to move ahead and flash BLHeli software onto the ESCs. So, I stripped the shrink wrap from one of the ESCs, soldered on three wires and connected to the Arduino board and flashed. Everything went well and flashing completed smoothly without errors. Thanks a ton to this video from flitetest

Since the FC is not here yet, I have no way of testing. So, I thought of connecting the programming card and setting the correct parameters. To my dismay, the three unflashed ESCs connect to the programming card fine, but nothing happens when I connect the flashed ESC. The programming card does not turn on. I checked the output from the BEC with a multimeter and found 5V DC. Is my ESC fried? How do I find out?

Edit - Whew. Just realized that the programming card cannot be used after flashing with BLHeli. I was really upset that I have started my build with a burnt ESC. I will now start posting about progress of the build
