hi everyone,  Smiley
Been getting into quads lately. This was my first semi plan built quad. I had initially bought sets of motor for my 450 flamewheel quad, i couldnt mount them in that frame. so being left with only motors i made a scratch built H quad(first pic below) so that i could learn to fly better, but since its arm broke and there were a few flaws in it. I came up with this quad for my learning platform..  Smiley

Im still learning how to fly and this thing still has to be fine tuned.

I would like to thank Veloci for his help in flashing the kk2.
sources of items used - rcdhamaka, rcbazaar, Adiboy, quadkopters, and hobbysea, i will buy items from them again. Great support.

frame specs-  bought items from sp road, blr.
aluminium square tube - 16mm x 16mm x 190mm (1mm thickness) - 6 pieces. - 4 arms and 2 frame braces.
glass fiber sheet - 2mm .
screws and nuts.
sponge landing gears.
lots of zip ties
double side tape
used dremel and drill to get the shapes.

electonics-
frsky v8ll rx
emax 18 amp escs
1200 kv motors
8 x 4.5 props
KK2.0 FC. v 1.5 ,
3s lipo. it carries both 2200mah and 3300mah lipos
AUW- Will have to find out.  Grin

Do give in all valuable inputs and suggestions.  thank you

pics added.

This is so cool Pravesh! Pls maiden it soon!
Cheers!

EDIT - Is your Quad balanced properly? Can the bigger lipo counter the weight of the smaller one?

hi veloci and rahul , thank you. you guys' build thread inspired me to make one.
maiden done already but no videos or pics, but will click and upload some soon. quad is balanced i think because the lighter weight is more outward while the heavier is closer from centre and there are gonna be 2 cams in front. Smiley need to cross check though.

pic of layout added with 2200mah 3s.

Okay pravesh. But why are you using a low voltage buzzer when this feature is already present in the KK2?

Check this...

You can use a 'RMC' connector(local name for balance plug) instead of the JST as shown...
Cheers!

@dharmik, thank you. your build gave me a lot of ideas. spoon for orientation (thank u veloci). but it will soon be replaced by vtx if i learn to fly it better, Wink.

edit- video link added. just flew it for the video sometime back.

Well done!  Wink
P.S - Get a buzzer from S.P road (Rs.5) and solder it to your KK2. 2 minute job.

hi again everyone,
I have got some updates/changes on my quad, like slightly redone frame to make it fly better, hybrid motors of emax and odin.  Tongue ..
5g8 FPV setup with cloverleafs and spw, cheap excellence OSD, f20a escs flashed simonk (never never ever going back to stock escs ever on any multi), black paint job... lol  Wink. running kk2 v1.6
now i also have provision for rssi on my frsky v8 rx using made amplifier circuit taking data from the led of the rx as source for signal(installing it as soon as i find proper space).
things getting installed soon tiny 3 osd and openlrs rx and 808 #16 cam Smiley. no gopro plans for this.
this quad is the best cheap setup i have found for myself for practicing mostly FPV flying through trees etc within 500ft radius(for safety) . i have had aprox 50 or more crashes including 1 being shot by catapult while LOS flying and a few 100-150feet free falls where it lucky fell on grass or mud. i crash every now and then. im using a 7inch monitor (no bluescreen) HMD with 2.5x reading glasses which i installed very recently, fresnel lens going in soon too.  some pics attached below. i dont have any on board video as i broke my 808 keychain cam and no dvr, have only easy cap dvr but no ones got time fo that.  Grin

In the third pic is quad with 2 putt putt boats gifted from VC sir when we met in his place. Thank you sir. I also met Sundaram sir in shillong, thank you sir for the great time. Smiley

take 2 regular servo extensions male and female, take female side and strip the outer cover so that innner pins are exposed and the other male side u remove from the holder and connect each cable to the usb asp correspondingly to the miso mosi etc. and alfemale side align them in the escs pads accordingly. use kk tool to flash. dharmik has also done a very good tutorial in his site.http://rcsci.blogspot.in/

5.8 is good as it doesnt interference with 2.4 or gps etc and works well, more like begineers frequency. very easy to tune without having to keep anything away from anything. i have 1.3ghz and 2.3 ghz sets also but their antennaes are too big for this quad and so far haven't had the need to use them as this is penetrating trees also pretty good. hope this helps . do use circular polarized antennaes with 5.8

You can run double the gains and it will not wobble as it would with a normal esc. simonk firmware is optimized firmware for multis, it has faster reponse. it has everything preprogrammed into it, no need to tune any escs either. no LVC either as its better to loose a lipo than a quad. eventually you get a quad thats a lot more stable.  Smiley
f20a are very easy to flash i have flashed about 16 f20a. 12 with veloci.

My First Flight

Hi Guys,
All of you are just amazing I could not believe what I have seen through the postings. You guys are just rocking. I know how much interest and time required to do what you have done. I did one plane using Depron sheet (F-35) but even after month I am not able to find time to fit all electronics into the plane. You guys look very professional and enthusiastic in what you are doing. I got one quad copter from RCBAZAAR. But till date I could not fly the same because of my limited knowledge on control board and settings. However I am just waiting for KK2 board as suggested by Veloci I will be getting one by end of this month and I hoping to fly this once I get the KK board. Kindly let me know if all you guys are meeting at one point in Bangalore so that I can also join and learn from you people. Your help be appreciated in helping me to fly my Quad copter and programming techniques.

Thanks, have a great flying

aditya i bought them from QK and they work fine. 5.8ghz stock antennaes can be converted to cloverleafs also  Wink. thank you sundaram sir for showing them to me. cut and remove the outer plastic cover and start working on the coaxial cable inside like how you would do with a normal rg316 coaxial cable.. i might give these hk ones a try but if u learn to fish you can fish your entire life and you can make for any frequency. you can experiment on it while waitng on the hk ones to arrive.

no, i dont think so, its the same thing that those dji frames or regular quad frames centre plates are made of , ask the shop for glass fiber sheets. he'll show you, its light greenish color like mucous(pardon me) . GFS is kinda harder to work on.
you can also use plywood 5mm or polypropylene sheets 5mm. dont use those transparent acrylic sheets . u can also use a geometry box with reinforcements as central body.  Smiley

nothing serious bro, both types are same motors, emax has strong bell and decent winding while odin had much better winding but the worst quality bell which bent in half a crash. after i crashed through both the sets of motors, i salvaged the parts and this came up. i was lucky as it flew better than both the stock motors. Hi Pravesh bro, I saw the pic. Sorry about that. It looks like it fell from the sky. It happened with me once when I was testing my first quad. I was flying over 30-40 feet from the ground.

Hi Dharmik, this quad has survived 100 feet falls with ease, only popped a motors and bent a arm, this one was destroyed by my hands, i actually crashed while trying to go through a tree and destroyed a motor in my first battery pack of the day and out of frustration i chucked it into the same tree.

yes sir ,  Sad even i felt sad once i reached home and cooled down  Giggle,
but after convincing myself to look at the bright side it meant better design of the same thing coming up, got a new tool , i have salvaged the parts, hehe . i wasnt flying anything else because of it. now others will get a chance too.  Wink

i assembled this by evening using spare homemade centre plates, new motors and salvaged parts of the broken quad
but i still miss that one.

The King is dead. Long live the King.

Pravesh, I was lucky to see the monster in flight. Happy to see you taking it in such a sporting manner. Well done! I'm sure this baby will fly even better.
