yup good idea @madaquif...
you can add multi color led. it is almost transparent you don't have to  add to much leds. just place few at appropriate angle and it will light up your whole quad....(coz of internal reflection) ..

@saikat sir, yes this will little more weight but not too much, my HJ450 bare frame weight is 271g and this acrylic frame is 289.(Both without landing gear)

does the stl file work for the laser or cnc?
No idea, But you can export to any Vector format like "eps" and import to coreldraw(Search google "sketchup to coreldraw" or let me know if you need any detail steps).

video attaching below, Not PID tuned yet, all with default parameters, no landinggear and GPS attached now.

in my experience APM always gave best results, and one more thing i never used vibration dampening methods(FC always tight mounterd on frame) and always care to balance props and motors.

for APM everything related to Mag calibration are well written here http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/ac_compasssetupupadvanced/
may be you missed this.
basic idea is same for all FCs.

Motor vibration determined by using small zip-tie(look at the attached pic). try rotating zip-tie to better vibration free point and put some stickers there(same stickers that uses for props). also replace bent shafts and adapters.

one more thing you can consider, close holes in two ends of arms with thermocol if you are using tube shaped arms like carbon-fiber pipe, aluminium pipe etc. will reduce vibrations to FC. I'm not joking just try, you can feel the difference.

Retreat, Hell!

in my experience APM always gave best results, and one more thing i never used vibration dampening methods(FC always tight mounterd on frame) and always care to balance props and motors.

I've had 2 acrylic quad frames now. They have much less vibration and you can customize all you want. I didn't have to add any vibration dampening to my APM either.
However, I soon realized that there were more disadvantages than advantages with this material. It slowly develops weak points and breaks easily on a rough landing. I've had some really horrible landings with my ST-360 frame but it's hardly got any scratches. Also, an acrylic frame is much heavier and more expensive.

I use laser cut acrylic in a lot of projects (robotics and general). But, alas, it doesn't make a good quad frame.
