I have a pixhawk and apm and both clones work fine on 3.2fw .
Since you are having issues with all the APM fc's after update, you must probably be overlooking something.

Have you redone acc/mag calibration after update, other than that check for loose joints in wiring. And if you are switching Tx'es, its highly recommended to calibrate the esc's and radio calibration too. Also recheck prop orientation and motor rotation & connections to FC.

Anyways please put a photo of your setup.

Try reset all parameters and recalibrate everything.

I have apm2.6(clone) , with version 3.2 quadx ,it works just fun...., like akhilzid said try resetting parameters ND recalibrate everything , do a motor test ,in this version of ardupilot the pitch axis is reversed(i.e. forward is back, ND back is forward ) ,so reverse that channel in ur radio , if everything doesn't work ur compass is probably bad (compass offsets should be between -150to150),or try loading an older version of ardu copter.upload a picture of ur setup..

Today even I updated the firmware and everything's working fine.
But I'm loosing height on alt hold :(

@immanuel i am nt using compass and 2.6 dont have a compass its disabled right? do i need a compass to fly with apm???

Title: Re: APM 2.6 firmware update
Post by: SideWinder on December 27, 2014, 12:33:18 PM
The original 3dr APM 2.6 doesnt have compass onboard but the clones do with open/closed solderpads. So you would need to check your FC if the compass is there and connected.

I would like to point out that connecting motors is different in APM than in kk, if thats what you are coming from. You can check the motors rotation direction by doing a motor test from mission planner( without props on).

Anyways flips happen if :
accelerometer/gyro are uncalibrated,(gyros wont be calibrated properly if you are moving the copter while booting up)
uncalibrated radio,
wrong prop configuration,
wrong motor rotation direction ,
connected the esc incorrectly to APM,
powering issues,
loose connections.
too much vibration
Or finally bad pilot, unflyable wind conditions and bad tuning.

These are some links where you can find accurate details:

http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/common-installing-3dr-ublox-gps-compass-module/#Connecting_to_APM_25_APM_20 (http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/common-installing-3dr-ublox-gps-compass-module/#Connecting_to_APM_25_APM_20)
http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/motor-setup/ (http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/motor-setup/)
http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/connecting-the-escs-and-motors/ (http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/connecting-the-escs-and-motors/)

Compass is not necessary but I would suggest you to get a compass/gps module, because you would be missing various flight modes without them. And without them, APM is only as good as kk2 with alt hold being an exception and autotune.

@sidewinder thank u i have done all the above steps i have checked it with two apms and two different tx rx :P now only a possiblity left is my apm is powered by escs and all escs have all wires connected i have heard that only the motor 1 esc should have power and rest shouldnt have ? is it ? that may cause a flip?

Title: Re: APM 2.6 firmware update
Post by: Immanuel on December 27, 2014, 12:45:32 PM
if ur using the latest version of apm , it'll not allow u to arm it if something is wrong with ur calibrations ,( is ur mission planner giving any error messages ?)on board  , I bought my apm 2.6 from quadkopters.com , check the description of the apm from the site u bought it , if u don't have a compass just buy one with a GPS module like sidewinder said (www.quadkopters.com/product/flight-controllers/ublox-6m-gps-with-cover/ (http://)) ,

No if ur escs are linear type they all can have power

Title: Re:
Post by: Hareesh on December 27, 2014, 12:53:16 PM
My friend also had the problem with the latest update.. GPS reports malfunction. I guess the latest update operates at much higher frequency to give better response time. Please check the aurdupilot forums. It talks about some blown out voltage regulator

Title: Re:
Post by: Hareesh on December 27, 2014, 12:58:06 PM
He has now returned to the old firmware.. Everything works like a charm now. For his tricopter. GPS now doesnot report any malfunction. The latest update seems to be buggy.. Would suggest to stay on the older firmware for some more time.. Until a stable one comes

If you say you have checked it all & everything is correct(that was fast  :o ), then most probably your boards are toast  :P
I can only tell you what can be the cause, troubleshooting it properly is your chore.

Esc's are very dirty power source for APM. You should either use power module or a separate bec/ubec for powering APM. Sometimes voltage may drop to less than 4.5v on esc's under high load which may lead to a brownout and crash.
Check that regulator too as Hareesh said, completely forgot that!

yes i felt the same i thought the 3dr people would have done some settings which would not allow clones to be flied :P juss a thought :P

How to revert back on old firmware ??
Go to
Mission Planner--Initial setup--Install firmware--Pick Previous Firmware (on the right side at the bottom)--Then either select from the drop down menu or click on appropriate image for your configuration.

Sorry to much off auto correct :p screwed Mr. Try to capture the flight data logs. Post it on aurdupilot website ask the Dev's to analyze then and get back to you with a work around

Title: apm 2.6 with 3.2 firmware flips on takeoff
Post by: cyberhack on January 02, 2015, 12:23:28 AM
hello guys i have made a quadcopter of the below config:
apm2.6
2200mah 3s wolfpack
xxa 1000kv motors
xxa 30amp esc
flysky 6ch tx rx
f450 frame

well i have recently received my apm 2.6 i have updated it to the latest firmware bt it tends to flip right in takeoff above 40% throttle
i dnt have gps or on board compass ...................

(@admin- sry to repost this if i have done it please delete my earlier thread)

Is motors rotating the right way ?
props are mounted Appropriate directions ?

Title: Re: apm 2.6 with 3.2 firmware flips on takeoff
Post by: cyberhack on January 02, 2015, 12:31:57 AM
yes motor 1 and motor 2 clockwise
motor 3 and motor 4 anticlockwise
and props are also proper according to the rotation

Title: Re: apm 2.6 with 3.2 firmware flips on takeoff
Post by: sooraj.palakkad on January 02, 2015, 12:43:28 AM
yes motor 1 and motor 2 clockwise
motor 3 and motor 4 anticlockwise

I don't think that's the right config.

ohh yeah sry i have considered the motors wrng side i mean i numbered them wrng yeah the motors are rotation as u said ...........(y)

Title: Re: apm 2.6 with 3.2 firmware flips on takeoff
Post by: cyberhack on January 02, 2015, 12:56:34 AM
@akhil i motors rotate the same way posted in the picture bt i suppose i have plugged the esc into apm considering the front left as 1 and front right as 3 and similarly others
i suppose attached them symmetrically would that be a prb? i mean i mistakenly considered motor 3 as motor 1 and connected and tried :P lol i figured it out after breaking so many props  :banghead:  will give it a try tomorrow and let u knw shitt i didnt even see it before :( anyways thankxx both of u wil let u knw abt the result motor rotations are correct bt bec plugging is wrng :P  ;D :giggle:

that means you swapped 1 and 3 right?
if yes then that should be the problem.
