If you just want normal alt hold etc. Kk boards are best. I know many flyers using kk boards without any problems. If you want a higher level autopilot, use apm, it's cheap too. If you want to have the apm level usability and want lesser hassle , if you are willing to shell of some extra money go for DJI naza. I've heard that Naze32 is a very good board.

So I would suggest KK 2.1.5 which is both cheap and also have minimum required functionalities. You will definitely love the APM flight controller's flexibilities compared to KK
